You will contribute broadly to the Future Forward group, with a focus on the development of innovative electronics at the heart of Intuitive systems.\nAs a member of the Future Forward engineering team, you will work cross-functionally and be involved in designing, implementing, and testing complex mixed-signal PCBAs and integrating them into complete surgical robot solutions and seeing these through human use and product release.\nThe successful candidate has familiarity with the design and integration of mixed-signal PCBAs, is comfortable troubleshooting at the board and system level and has previous exposure to the medical devices development processes.\nQuick learning and a desire to understand requirements from a user and engineering’s perspective are essential to become a valuable system developer. Supporting you will be a development and management team that knows and cares about what you are doing and wants you to succeed.\nEssential Job Duties\nThis position is involved in all aspects related to the electronic board design (PCBAs) for robotic surgical systems. The Electrical Engineer will:\nDesign or modify PCBAs, participating in electrical architecture definition, selecting components, designing schematics (OrCAD preferred), performing component placement, stack-up definition, and overseeing PCB layout.\n\nWork with contract manufacturers (CM) to coordinate timely arrival of prototypes and production PCBAs.\n\nBring up and debug prototypes, work with embedded software teams to test various functions of the board.\n\nRepresent Electrical Engineering on cross-functional project teams for designing and developing next generation robotic surgery.\n\nAdopt the best methods to meet product requirements and integrate them into effective designs.\n\nDevelop, implement, test and document solutions according to clinical, statutory, and environmental requirements.\n\nProvide technical expertise to resolve challenging design, field and manufacturing issues.\n\nDevelop prototypes to aid actions for future product development.\n\nProvide technical support to other stakeholders on electrical engineering concepts\n\nSupport the quality and regulatory process.\n\nEnsure that medical device designs meet product quality and safety requirements, in compliance with design control processes defined in the Quality Management System.\n\n Required Skills and Experience\nExperience with mixed-signal PCB designs, embedded system design, and PCBA design for harsh environments.\n\nStrong foundations on electrical engineering concepts: analog, digital, high-speed and signal integrity, MPSoCs, FPGAs, MCUs, DC/DC power converters.\n\nHardware development experience in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment, preferably in medical surgical or therapeutic products.\n\nFamiliarity in all phases of the product development lifecycle, including design, implementation, debug, verification, qualification, and transfer to manufacturing.\n\nHands-on engineering skills and ability to work well in a team environment.\n\nUnderstanding of component selection criteria, design for reliability and manufacturability.\n\nExcellent communication skills (written and oral) across all levels and organizations.\n\nAbility to collaborate closely with software and FPGA teams for architecture definition, processor/FPGA selection and interface definition.\n\nRequired Education and Training\nMinimum Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or adjacent technical field with 4 years of experience, or Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or PhD degree with 2 years of experience.\n\n4 years of focused and hands-on mixed-signal board-level design from architecture phase through production.\n\n Due to the nature of our business and the role, please note that Intuitive and/or your customer(s) may require that you show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases including COVID-19.
