Intuitive Surgical is an American medical device company founded in 1995 that created the market for robotic-assisted soft tissue surgery with its da Vinci systems. A surgeon works from a console controlling instruments mounted on robotic arms, and the company earns most of its revenue not from the systems themselves but from the instruments and accessories consumed in every procedure and from service contracts on the installed base. Headquartered in Sunnyvale and listed on Nasdaq, it has expanded into lung biopsy with the Ion catheter platform and reports procedure volumes as its primary growth measure.

At Intuitive, we are united behind our mission: we believe that minimally invasive care is life-enhancing care. Through ingenuity and intelligent technology, we expand the potential of physicians to heal without constraints.
