The work is challenging, but deeply meaningful-because every improvement we make has the potential to change a life.\nIf you’re ready to contribute to something bigger than yourself and help transform the future of healthcare, you’ll find your purpose here.\n Primary Function of the Position\nWork within Intuitive’s Laser Process Engineering (LPX) group towards the advancement of laser process technology from the product design board to the manufacturing floor.\nEssential Job Duties\nCollaborate within a multi-disciplinary (mechanical design, software controls, machine vision, laser physics) team environment to create platforms and workholding for laser processing\nHelp improve laser process output in both laser lab and production manufacturing environments\nHelp drive root cause analyses of system and equipment failures with the ability to deep dive Software and data analysis\nCollaborate to design, qualify, document, and validate: laser processes and related tooling\nProvide production line support for day-to-day engineering issues with laser equipment\nWork with NPD to help drive DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing/Design for Assembly/Automation) specific to laser processes\n Required Skills and Experience\nA passion for solving tough technical problems - Strong mechanical intuition and persistence to drill down to pinpoint root cause of problems, solving problems using fundamental principles\nProficiency using CAD to design parts and assemblies and to create specification drawings in a PDM environment; Solidworks strongly preferred\nExperience with validation/verification/qualification of process, equipment, fixtures, and tooling\nSome knowledge of component manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment specific to developing laser processes including welding/marking/cutting/ablating\nHands-on engineering with the ability to work well in a team environment\nAbility to read and interpret electronic schematics and layouts\nAbility to communicate effectively and accurately (written and oral) across all levels and functions, including presenting to a technical audience\nFamiliarity with design for assembly, manufacturing and automation\nExcellent communication and documentation skills\nTroubleshooting mindset\nComfortable operating measurement and test equipment\nRequired Education and Training\nMinimum BS / MS degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent work experience\nMinimum of 5 years of relevant experience, minimum 3 years with a masters\nMinimum 3 years of industry experience designing or manufacturing commercial products, medical device experience preferred\nWorking Conditions\n100% onsite work with the ability to travel 10% of the time\nPreferred Skills and Experience\nMedical Device industry experience\nExperience developing, implementing, and optimizing automated systems\nComfortable operating machine shop, measurement, and test equipment\nFirsthand machining experience preferred\n Due to the nature of our business and the role, please note that Intuitive and/or your customer(s) may require that you show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases including COVID-19.
