This role combines hands-on technical leadership in SAP ME (Manufacturing Execution) and SAP MII (Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence) with responsibility for leading a team of developers, setting technical direction, and ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business needs. The ideal candidate is a deeply experienced SAP ME/MII practitioner who can also mentor junior developers, drive best practices, and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to optimize manufacturing processes and real-time data integration.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the design, development, and implementation of SAP ME and SAP MII solutions that integrate manufacturing systems with enterprise SAP applications.\n\nServe as the technical lead for the ME/MII development team, providing architectural direction, code reviews, and hands-on guidance on complex development efforts.\n\nMentor and coach junior and mid-level developers, fostering skill growth, knowledge sharing, and adherence to development standards and best practices.\n\nCollaborate with business analysts, functional consultants, plant operations, and IT teams to gather requirements and translate them into robust technical designs.\n\nDesign and extend SAP ME applications using the SAP ME SDK, including custom PODs, operations, business logic services, and workflow customizations.\n\nDevelop and maintain custom SAP MII applications, including visualizations, reports, dashboards, and transactions.\n\nDevelop and maintain UI5 applications supporting shop-floor and enterprise use cases.\n\nIntegrate SAP ME/MII with other SAP modules (SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP PI/PO) and third-party manufacturing systems such as MES, SCADA, and PLCs.\n\nOwn the technical roadmap for ME/MII platforms, including upgrade planning, performance tuning, and technical debt reduction.\n\nEstablish and enforce coding standards, testing practices, and deployment processes across the development team.\n\nLead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex production issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal manufacturing downtime.\n\nManage project timelines, task assignments, and resource planning for ME/MII development initiatives, in coordination with project managers.\n\nDocument solutions, architecture decisions, and configurations for internal knowledge sharing and long-term maintainability.\n\nDrive continuous improvement and optimization of existing applications, tools, and development processes.\n\nProvide training and knowledge transfer to end-users, junior developers, and other team members.\n\n Qualifications\n8+ years of experience in SAP ME and/or SAP MII development, including experience leading or mentoring other developers.\n\nHands-on experience with the SAP ME SDK, including custom POD development, business logic, and workflow/process extensions - required.\n\nStrong experience with SAP MII, including hands-on work with SAP MII 15.x or higher versions.\n\nExperience with SAP HANA and strong understanding of manufacturing execution and shop-floor processes.\n\nHands-on experience with the UI5 framework to build web applications.\n\nProven experience integrating SAP ME/MII with other systems such as MES, SCADA, PLCs, and other manufacturing software.\n\nStrong knowledge of Java, XML, JavaScript, and related web technologies.\n\nExperience with SAP PI/PO, SAP ABAP, or other integration technologies.\n\nDemonstrated experience leading technical teams, projects, or workstreams, with the ability to guide, motivate, and develop other engineers.\n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)\n\nLeadership & Team Qualities\nProven ability to lead and mentor a team of developers, including delegating work, reviewing code, and providing constructive technical feedback.\n\nStrong ownership mindset with the ability to set technical direction and make sound architectural decisions.\n\nExcellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nSkilled at balancing hands-on development work with team leadership and coordination responsibilities.\n\nExperience facilitating knowledge sharing, onboarding, and upskilling within a development team.\n\nAbility to manage competing priorities across multiple projects while keeping the team focused and on schedule.\n\nCollaborative, solutions-oriented approach to working with business stakeholders, plant operations, and cross-functional IT teams.\n\nPreferred Skills\nExperience with SAP S/4HANA integration.\n\nKnowledge of other SAP modules such as SAP PP (Production Planning), SAP QM (Quality Management), or SAP WM (Warehouse Management).\n\nExperience with advanced data analytics and reporting tools.\n\nPrior experience as a technical lead, team lead, or people manager in an SAP manufacturing environment.\n\n Due to the nature of our business and the role, please note that Intuitive and/or your customer(s) may require that you show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases including COVID-19.
