This position will remain open for application based on business need, which may be before or after the 3-day posting window.\nJob Description\nAbout The Site\nThe Calhoun Energy Center is a 200 MW-AC solar powered generation facility located in Battlecreek, MI utilizing GE inverters, Single axis NEXTracker trackers, and Longi modules, with an attached substation.\nHorsepower Solar consists of 7 smaller sites is southern Michigan. Each site is approximately 20 MW with an attached substation. The sites utilize Nevados and NEXTracker Horizon trackers, Sungrow Inverters and there are multiple panel types.\nPosition Overview\nAs a Solar Technician, you will be responsible for assisting in operating and maintaining the energy site.\nResponsibilities\nPerform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on all site solar, substation, and associated equipment\n\nPerform vegetation management, up to operating large equipment to maintain the site per the vegetation management plan.\n\nTroubleshoot complicated electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic problems including: Inverter faults, Tracker faults, network communications, ground faults, collection issues, substation issues, and general site performance issues.\n\nUnderstand electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic functions of all components of solar site and associated equipment.\n\nConduct site maintenance daily, wearing all required safety equipment, to inspect, maintain, and repair equipment.\n\nThe Solar Technician will work a schedule of 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday-Friday (40 hours) and will be subject to scheduled and unscheduled overtime and potential night work. The work schedule will vary during the peak maintenance periods.\n\nMaintain company tooling, facilities and equipment and a clean safe work environment\n\nRequired Skills\nHigh school diploma or equivalent\n\nOne (1) year technical experience (electrical, etc.) and/or technical education.\n\nWilling to travel up to 30% of the time.\n\nWilling to support other project sites in the region.\n\nWilling to work nights during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities\n\nMust be able to work outdoors in inclement weather\n\nAbility to climb / work safely from a portable step ladder\n\nAbility to understand directions, follow procedures, and complete tasks with minimal oversight\n\nEffective communication skills both written and verbal\n\nAbility to move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 pounds).\n\nValid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.\n\nEligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.\n\nPreferred Education and/or Work Experience\nExperience with PV maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium voltage systems, and network communications and monitoring\n\nExperience in an industrial environment dealing with machine repair and maintenance (Manufacturing, Automotive, Food Processing, Automation, Facilities) as a maintenance technician, electrician, electronic tech, field engineer or technician, service tech, etc.\n\nExperience with the operation of various SCADA systems\n\nSkilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection, I-V Curve Tracing, Meggers, and Ground Fault Detection\n\nStrong Analytical and Diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found\n\nKnowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and standard practices\n\nAbility to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams / schematics\n\nProficiency with MS Office suite\n\nBase Pay\n$29.49 - $49.97 USD Hourly\nBonus: 0% - 10%\nThe base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position.
