We are a US based company headquartered in Woodridge, Illinois and have a global presence that extends across four continents with five manufacturing facilities, three engineering technical centers, a multi-tiered sales service channel, and 3,000+ employees. For over 60 years, Inventus Power has been addressing the rapidly expanding power demands of a changing world through technology and engineered solutions. We continue to invest in our people and processes, while enhancing our products and capabilities in order to create a safer, smarter, and more sustainable battery-powered world.\nWe are an ITAR facility and hire only U.S. persons who are defined as U.S. citizens or green card holders.\nWhat You’ll Do\nThe Qualification Engineer I executes formal electrical, mechanical, and environmental qualification of new products, materials, and devices under senior-level supervision. This is a hands-on lab role: you will spend meaningful time on the bench setting up fixtures, instrumenting test articles, and operating environmental chambers, vibration systems, cyclers, and EMC equipment. You will also collaborate with internal design teams, program management, and external test labs to establish requirements, author test procedures, participate in design reviews, and generate formal qualification reports suitable for customer and regulatory audit.\nWe are open to two candidate profiles for this role: an early-career engineer with a technical degree and formative test experience, or an experienced hardware test technician ready to grow into engineering-level ownership of test planning, procedure authorship, and formal reporting. Strong candidates from either background will have a genuine interest in regulatory and standards-driven testing, and the discipline to execute against a written specification.\nResponsibilities (Including other duties as assigned)\nExecute qualification test programsagainst military, transport, and industry standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, UN 38.3, IATA DGR, and customer-specific requirements), including procedure development, hands-on test execution, deviation management, and formal reporting.\nSet up andoperatelab equipment including environmental chambers, vibration and shock systems, battery cyclers (Maccor, Chroma), programmable power supplies, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems.\nFabricate and instrument test fixtures - cabling, thermocouple placement, sense/force wiring, and safe electrical connections at pack-level voltages.\nGenerate detailed product qualification test plans based on internal and external specifications; compose final qualification reports that will withstand customer and third-party scrutiny.\nCollect, evaluate, and report all test results with full traceability - DUT identification, calibration status, chamber setpoints, and timestamped observations.\nCollaborate with third-party labs and certification bodies toattainproduct compliance to safety and transport regulations.\nPlan and document project status,maintaintest schedules, and coordinate with functional managers and customers to ensure on-time completion of deliverables.\nPerform root cause failure analysis of products, assemblies, and components toidentifycorrective and preventative actions that improve design and manufacturing processes.\nCommunicate project risks, technical findings, and deviations clearly across all levels of the organization; support mitigation activities.\nProvide technical support to other functional groups within the organization andassistin the acceptance and implementation of new tools and techniques.\nWhat You Will Need\nEducation and experience:Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, or a related technical discipline (Bachelor's in Engineeringpreferred);ORan equivalent combination of technical training and hands-on test lab experience (e.g., 4+ years as a hardware test technician with demonstrated growth into procedure development, formal reporting, and independent test execution).\nMinimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in product development, qualification, or compliance testing.\nStrong working knowledge of standard electronics test equipment including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, programmable power supplies, and data loggers.\nAbility to interpret electrical schematics and perform basic electrical calculations.\nDemonstrated experience with data gathering, analysis, and technical report generation.\nStrong computer skills, highly proficient using MS Word and Excel (pivot tables, charts, lookups).\nFluent in English with strong verbal and written technical communication skills.\nCapable of working in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision; reacts well under pressure, accepts responsibility for own actions, and follows through on commitments.\nWhat Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications)\nPrior experience executing formal regulatory or compliance testing is the single strongest differentiator for this role. What we care about is that you have worked in a structured, requirements-driven test environment where procedures, deviations, and results must withstand external scrutiny. Experience with any of the following standards families is highly valued:\nLithium battery transport testing - UN 38.3, IATA DGR, 49 CFR 173.185\nEnvironmental qualification - MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160, IEC 60068\nEMC / EMI testing - MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, CISPR, FCC Part 15, IEC 61000-4-x\nProduct safety and agency testing - UL, IEC 62133, CE, TUV, CSA\nExperience working with or coordinating third-party accredited test labs (A2LA, ISO/IEC 17025)\nAdditional pluses:\nHands-on experience with environmental chambers (Cincinnati Sub-Zero, Thermotron, ESPEC) and Watlow controllers.\nExperience with battery cyclers (Maccor, Chroma, Arbin) and battery fuel-gauging techniques.\nExperience with electrodynamic vibration and mechanical shock systems.\nFamiliarity with EMC pre-compliance tools (ESD guns, LISN, spectrum analyzers).\nExperience developing automated test equipment (ATE).\nDirect experience working with lithium batteries, chargers, and battery management systems.\nGrowth Path\nThis position has a clearly defined progression to Qualification Engineer II, with mentorship on regulatory ownership, cross-functional test program leadership, and formal customer-facing qualification reporting. We are actively investing in our test lab capability - including facility expansion, new test capability build-out, and modern automation tooling - and this role will play a direct part in that growth.\nBehavioral Attributes We Look For\nCuriosity - asking why a test exists, not just how to run it.\nComfort with ambiguity - qualification work is full of \"the spec is silent on this, what do we do.\"\nOwnership - following up on late test articles, missing information, or open deviations without being asked.\nCross-functional communication -abilityto work respectfully with design engineers, program managers, and external labs, including the ability to push back constructively.\nInventus Power is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and affirmative action employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.","description_format":"text","description_chars":7476,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":4,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"associate","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[{"language":"English","level":"Advanced (C1)","optional":false}]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Professional Services","Energy Storage","Power Supplies & Power Electronics"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-07T14:30:23Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":9,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.304,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":65,"expected_fill_days":17,"reasons":["conf:4","win:tail","crowd:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-12T06:55:09Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":83000,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/inventus-power-qualification-engineer-i","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/inventus-power-qualification-engineer-i.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-12T09:56:16Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":15203,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-13T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":3866441},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=3866441"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Finventus-power-qualification-engineer-i"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Finventus-power-qualification-engineer-i"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Finventus-power-qualification-engineer-i"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/inventus-power-qualification-engineer-i\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Finventus-power-qualification-engineer-i"}]}
