This role provides deep technical expertise, drives automation maturity, mentors junior analysts, and partners closely with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams to uphold quality throughout the development lifecycle. The Senior Software Quality Engineer works proactively to identify risks, improve processes, and elevate overall product excellence.\nResponsibilities of the Role:\nTest Strategy & Leadership\nDefine and lead end-to-end test strategies for complex applications, integrations, and platforms for HR Domain.\n\nAnalyze requirements, architecture, and design documents to identify gaps and improve testability.\n\nServe as a quality authority within Agile teams, influencing decisions and best practices.\n\nDrive test planning, estimation, prioritization, and reporting for releases and major initiatives.\n\nAdvanced Test Execution & Automation\nLead the creation and maintenance of automated test suites for UI, API, and backend services.\n\nImprove automation frameworks and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).\n\nExecute functional, integration, regression, performance, and security tests as needed.\n\nEnsure test environments, data, and tools are optimized for efficiency and reliability.\n\nDefect Management & Root Cause Analysis\nIdentify, document, and track defects with high clarity and precision.\n\nFacilitate root-cause analysis sessions with engineering teams to ensure long-term corrective actions.\n\nProvide clear quality insights using metrics, dashboards, and trend analysis.\n\nQuality Governance & Continuous Improvement\nLead initiatives to enhance quality engineering practices, standards, and tools.\n\nChampion continuous improvement in testing processes, automation adoption, and Agile quality practices.\n\nConduct peer reviews of test cases, automation scripts, and documentation.\n\nCollaboration & Mentorship\nPartner with developers, product owners, and business stakeholders to ensure quality is built into every phase of development.\n\nMentor junior and mid-level QA staff in testing techniques, automation, and analysis.\n\nCommunicate risks, dependencies, and quality expectations clearly and proactively.\n\nRequirements of the Role:\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.\n\n5 -10+ years of software QA, test engineering, or related technical experience.\n\nProven background leading QA activities within Agile/Scrum teams.\n\nExperience architecting or enhancing automation frameworks.\n\nExperience and knowledge of Workday HCM, PeopleSoft, or similar Human Capital Management platforms\n\nTechnical Skills\nStrong understanding of QA methodologies, SDLC, STLC, and test automation lifecycle.\n\nHands-on experience with automation tools such as:\nSelenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium\n\nPostman, REST-Assured, SoapUI\n\nProficiency in scripting or programming languages (Python, JavaScript, Java, C#).\n\nExperience with CI/CD platforms and test integration.\n\nSolid understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and data validation.\n\nFamiliarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) is a plus.\n\nSoft Skills\nExcellent analytical skills and the ability to solve complex testing challenges.\n\nStrong communication skills and ability to translate technical details to business stakeholders.\n\nLeadership presence, ownership mentality, and the ability to work autonomously.\n\nDetail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills.\n\nPreferred Certifications\nISTQB Advanced Level Test Analyst or Technical Test Analyst\n\nCertified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA)\n\nSelenium or test automation certifications\n\nAgile or Scrum certifications\n\nThe salary range for this position in Charlottetown is $100,000 - $110,000 year.
