Everyone here is committed, and everyone knows their work directly contributes to something bigger.\nThe Role\nWe're looking for an Experimental Physicist to build and improve the next-generation soft X-ray (SXR) source at the core of our metrology equipment.\nYou'll work in our lab with experienced colleagues who know this technology inside out. You take setups from first assembly to stable operation, find out what limits their performance, and turn what you learn into specifications for our metrology equipment.\nKey Responsibilities\nBuild, align and commission the optical and vacuum systems of our test bench, and bring them into stable operation\n\nSet up and run diagnostics to characterize the SXR light and the optical systems that generate it\n\nMeasure and optimize the performance of the SXR source, and turn what you learn into specifications for our metrology equipment\n\nSolve hardware issues, find practical solutions and test new ideas quickly\n\nControl experiments and analyze the data, working with detectors, motion control and data acquisition\n\nWork with our experienced physicists and engineers, and take on adjacent responsibilities as the team grows, such as test bench design or contacts with suppliers\n\nIs this you?\nPhD in physics, optics, photonics, electrical engineering or a related field, or an MSc in one of these fields with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a high-tech environment\n\nA strong grasp of the physics, so an unexpected result becomes a clue rather than a roadblock, and a safe, structured way of working in the lab, independently and as part of a team\n\nHands-on experience with high-power or ultrafast laser systems and optical setups, in academia or industry\n\nExperience with optical measurement and diagnostics, such as spectroscopy, imaging, beam profiling, pulse characterization or power measurement\n\nExperience with vacuum systems and lab instrumentation, such as detectors, motion control and data acquisition\n\nProgramming skills for data analysis or instrument control, for example in Python, MATLAB or LabVIEW\n\nGood spoken and written English\n\nActive use of AI tooling in your daily work (data analysis, instrument control scripts, documentation) to boost efficiency\n\nNice to have\nExperience with SXR or XUV optics and detection\n\nExperience in laser or optical engineering\n\nExperience with opto-mechanical or in-vacuum design\n\nExperience with EUV or SXR metrology for semiconductors\n\nWhat We Offer\nA hands-on role in our lab where your work directly shapes the product, with experienced physicists and engineers to learn from every day\n\nCompetitive salary and benefits, including an Employee Share Ownership Plan\n\nA learning and development budget to support your growth\n\nFlexible working arrangements, and room to grow into adjacent responsibilities as the team scales\n\nInterested?\nIf this sounds like your kind of challenge, we'd like to hear from you, even if you only recognize yourself in part of this description.
