If you thrive on solving complex challenges, driving innovation and delivering frontend excellence, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact.\nWhat you'll do:\nFrontend Architecture and Technical DirectionHelp shape frontend architecture and establish patterns that can be used across the team\nMake technical decisions and clearly communicate the reasoning and trade-offs behind them\nDesign frontend applications and architecture at scale, thinking beyond individual features to the wider platform\nContribute to the ongoing frontend rewrite and the long-term technical direction of the platform\nIdentify technical risks, dependencies and areas of technical debt, and drive their resolution\n\nAdvanced Frontend Development and DeliveryDesign, build and maintain complex frontend applications using React\nTake ownership of larger technical initiatives and projects from initial idea through to delivery\nWork closely with other engineers to deliver larger pieces of functionality\nWork effectively within large or complex codebases\nLearn and contribute to the broader technology stack as the team moves toward full-stack engineering\n\nCode Quality and Engineering StandardsReview code and ensure adherence to standards, design patterns and best practices\nHelp improve development practices, code quality and application performance\nInvestigate difficult technical problems and drive them through to resolution\nWork with backend engineers and APIs to ensure a clean boundary between frontend and backend systems\n\nTechnical Leadership and MentorshipProvide practical technical guidance to other engineers\nMentor and help intermediate engineers work through problems\nTake responsibility for a technical area so the wider team can focus on delivery\nBring and articulate technical opinions, while remaining open to alternative approaches\nContribute to technical discussions and knowledge-sharing across the team\n\nQualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field\nRelevant certifications in frontend or web development technologies\n Your Expertise:Around 7+ years' professional software development experience\nCommunication skills (technical and non-technical audiences)\nStrong hands-on experience with ReactJS\nInterpersonal and relationship management skills\nExperience designing and working with frontend architecture at scale\nAdvanced analytical skills\nExperience working with APIs and backend services\nAdvanced problem-solving skills\nExperience with testing, performance and maintainability\nAbility to make technical decisions independently and explain the trade-offs\nStrong Git and code review experience\nCoaching and mentoring skills\nExperience taking ownership of projects from initial idea through to delivery\nTechnical leadership\nJava and Spring experience would be beneficial, particularly for full-stack development\nStrong JavaScript and/or TypeScript knowledge\nStrong understanding of component architecture, state management and application structure\nDeep understanding of frontend architecture and scalable design practices\nKnowledge of integrating frontend applications with APIs and backend services\nStrong understanding of testing, performance and maintainability principles\nUnderstanding of version control and code review practices\nAwareness of technical risk, dependencies and technical debt management\nUnderstanding of modern engineering practices within a delivery-focused team\nOther information applicable to the opportunity:\n\nContract position\nLocation: Stellenbosch\nWhy work for us?\nWant to work for an organization that solves complex real-world problems with innovative software solutions?
