This position serves as the site's subject matter expert for EHS matters and partners closely with plant leadership and employees to identify and mitigate risk, maintain regulatory compliance, improve EHS performance, and drive continuous improvement throughout the operation. The role is responsible for environmental permitting and reporting, safety programs, regulatory compliance, employee training, risk assessments, incident prevention and investigation, workers' compensation, and interactions with regulatory agencies.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nEnvironmental Compliance & Regulatory Management\nLead the site's environmental compliance programs, including air, water, stormwater, hazardous waste, and other applicable environmental requirements.\nMaintain compliance with applicable permits and regulatory requirements, including Title V air permitting, NPDES/stormwater requirements, hazardous waste regulations, and underground storage tank requirements, as applicable to the facility.\nCoordinate required environmental monitoring and testing, including air, water, waste, and employee exposure testing.\nPrepare, maintain, and submit required environmental reports, records, permits, and regulatory documentation.\nServe as a primary site contact for environmental and safety regulatory agencies and support regulatory inspections and audits.\n\nSafety Leadership & Risk Management\nLead and continuously improve the site's EHS management systems, policies, procedures, and programs.\nPartner with plant leadership to establish short- and long-term EHS objectives, strategies, priorities, and performance measures.\nDevelop and implement risk-assessment processes to identify, evaluate, prioritize, and mitigate workplace hazards.\nLead or support Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Job Safety Analyses (JSA), pre-startup safety reviews, Management of Change (MOC), lockout/tagout, behavior-based safety, and other risk-reduction programs.\nConduct safety inspections, audits, and assessments and drive corrective actions through completion.\nFacilitate and coach employee safety teams to strengthen engagement, ownership, and accountability for workplace safety.\n\nIncident Prevention & Continuous Improvement\nLead investigations of safety incidents, near misses, and environmental events to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.\nAnalyze EHS trends and performance data to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.\nPartner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and other functions to incorporate EHS requirements into operational and capital projects.\nChampion continuous improvement initiatives that reduce employee exposure, environmental risk, and operational risk.\n\nTraining & Employee Engagement\nDevelop, coordinate, and deliver required EHS training for employees, supervisors, and leaders.\nPromote employee participation in safety initiatives and help build a culture in which employees actively identify and address hazards.\nProvide coaching and technical guidance to plant leadership and employees regarding EHS requirements and best practices.\n\nWorkers' Compensation & Reporting\nSupport the management of workplace injuries, workers' compensation cases, regulatory reporting, and return-to-work activities.\nMaintain accurate EHS records, documentation, and performance metrics.\nCommunicate EHS performance, significant risks, trends, and corrective actions to plant and corporate leadership.\n\nCorporate EHS Support\nParticipate in corporate EHS initiatives, teams, audits, and continuous improvement efforts as required.\nSupport the development and standardization of EHS programs and best practices across company operations.\nPerform other related duties as assigned.\n\nQualifications\n\nRequired\nBachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.\n5+ years of progressive environmental, health, and safety experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.\nDemonstrated experience with environmental compliance and permitting, including air emissions/Title V and stormwater or water-discharge requirements.\nWorking knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental and occupational safety regulations.\nExperience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, audits, and corrective-action processes.\nStrong communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\nDemonstrated ability to partner effectively with plant leadership, operations teams, employees, and regulatory agencies.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and move effectively between strategic planning and hands-on plant-floor activities.\nAbility to travel occasionally based on business needs.\n\nPreferred\nProfessional EHS certification such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent.\nExperience with ISO-based environmental or occupational health and safety management systems.\nFamiliarity with Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and continuous improvement methodologies.\nExperience working in a complex manufacturing
