Advance your education and career with our tuition assistance program \nSummary\nUnder the supervision of the Purchasing Manager and/or under the guidance of senior purchasing staff the Buyer I assists with the procurement of goods and services of limited financial scope. This may include raw materials, tools, machine parts, weldments, equipment, electrical components/supplies, MRO, and other supplies for the organization. Assists the Purchasing Manager and/or senior purchasing staff with contract management, contract negotiation, and preparation of purchase orders as requested.\n Essential Duties and Responsibilities\nAccurately enters and processes purchase orders in a timely manner\nRecord purchase order acknowledgments and update PO discrepancies\nWorks with quality assurance to render disposition on defective parts and supplier feedback\nExpedite and perform procurement activities to ensure the organization's current and anticipated demand for products and materials (stock and non-stock) are met and in alignment with Ipsen’s purchasing strategies.\nMaintains a 90% or higher (as set by department head) on-time average\nCommunicates with vendors in meeting production requirements through expediting, rescheduling, changing, or canceling of purchased items.\nSelect products for purchase through knowledge, history, supplier profile, supplier survey, engineering recommendation, and/or senior purchasing staff recommendation.\nCommunicates effectively with all departments coordinating acceptable quality and delivery of purchased material.\nWork directly in support of line operations and in collaboration with department managers, engineers or operations staff to expedite critical build items and arrange deliveries.\nMonitor the quality and timeliness of products and materials supplied; coordinate the return of damaged goods and/or replacement items.\nMaintain and cultivate relationships with suppliers, vendors, internal or external customers.\nOther duties as assigned.\nReviews production and project schedules, expediting critical build items with Production Control and arranging deliveries\nCommunicates in real time with the production teams on items that need to be expedited.\nTakes immediate action on those items which require supplier correction.\nRequirements\n Knowledge, Skills and Abilities\nKnowledge of negotiation tactics and contract terms\nBasic understanding of manufacturing processes and production planning\nAbility to work effectively with cross-functional teams and respond in a timely manner to questions from managers, production supervisors, production personnel and customers\nAbility to recognize cost reduction and value optimization opportunities\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\nProficiency in business software and tools (EX: ERP systems), as well as Microsoft Office Suite\nAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as price vs. cost analysis, discounts, percentages, proportions, area, circumference, volume, metrics and interest. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry\nEffective time management and organization skills to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and manage priorities.\nAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, blueprints, component specifications, or governmental regulations\nAbility to write reports, and business correspondence and present information to senior staff and leadership\n Education and Experience\nBachelors degree in business administration, supply chain, or related field required.\nMinimum 2+ year(s) prior experience working in the capacity of purchasing, production planning or similar experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment.\nProfessional certifications in supply chain management (CSCP, CPSM, etc) preferred.\nPhysical/Visual/Mental/ Environmental Factors\nThe demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
