We turn deep research into reliable, full-stack systems that drive discoveries in fields like medicine, energy, and technology, reshaping how the world computes.\nJoin the team that gives quantum a heartbeat.\nThe work\nAs an Advanced Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll join our Vertical Deployment team within Algorithms and Applications, developing a platform that brings quantum computing closer to real-world applications.\nYou'll contribute to building user-facing features for configuring, executing, and monitoring computational workflows, with a focus on frontend development and additional contributions to backend services, APIs, and integrations. You'll take ownership of features from development to deployment, working independently and collaborating with the team to deliver practical solutions.\nWhat you’ll actually do\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain frontend features using Vue.js and TypeScript, with a focus on creating intuitive, responsive, and user-friendly interfaces.\n\nTake an active role in shaping the platform's user experience, bringing creativity and design thinking into how complex workflows and technical information are presented.\n\nTranslate user needs and technical requirements into practical frontend solutions, considering usability, functionality, and maintainability.\n\nTake ownership of feature areas or related task groups, from understanding requirements and proposing solutions to implementation, testing, and deployment.\n\nContribute to backend development using Node.js and TypeScript, including building and integrating REST APIs and supporting services.\n\nWork with PostgreSQL, Redis, and asynchronous workflow systems, addressing challenges such as long-running jobs, task dependencies, retries, and failure handling.\n\nDebug and resolve issues across different layers of the platform, including frontend, backend, and workflow execution.\n\nCollaborate with researchers, software engineers, and other stakeholders to understand user needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.\n\nParticipate in code reviews and contribute to coding standards, development practices, and CI/CD processes.\n\nIdentify technical risks, proactively suggest improvements, and make sound implementation decisions while knowing when to seek input.\n\nWhat we’re looking for\n3+ years of professional full-stack experience, focused on the frontend\n\nComputer Science degree (or related quantitative field) or equivalent industry experience\n\nStrong frontend skills (Vue.js, JavaScript), with attention to UX and user flow; some experience working with UI/UX designers\n\nSolid backend experience: Node.js (TypeScript), REST APIs, relational databases, and job-queue-backed data stores - ideally PostgreSQL and Redis\n\nUnderstanding of async processing and workflow systems: long-running jobs, state management, task dependencies, retries, idempotency\n\nFamiliarity with CI/CD, Docker, and logging/monitoring tools such as OpenTelemetry\n\nAbility to work independently - breaks down ambiguous requirements and owns deliverables with minimal supervision\n\nStrong communication: explains technical decisions, flags blockers, gives constructive review feedback\n\nNice to have\nExperience with workflow orchestration frameworks, particularly Argo Workflows\n\nBackground in computational, scientific, or other technically complex software platforms\n\nFamiliarity with quantum computing - or interest in learning\n\nWhy IQM?\nFull-stack quantum computing: From quantum hardware to software layers and beyond, we build across the full-stack.\n\nHigh-performance playground: We aim high, and we know sustainable performance only works when life outside work does too-hybrid setups, flexible hours.\n\nNever the smartest: You won’t always be the smartest person in the room.
