We turn deep research into reliable, full-stack systems that drive discoveries in fields like medicine, energy, and technology, reshaping how the world computes.\nJoin the team that gives quantum a heartbeat.\nThe work\nWe are looking for a Quantum Engineer (Mid-level to Senior) with a scientific mindset to develop new readout techniques for superconducting quantum processors and to support our quantum error correction (QEC) efforts towards scalable quantum computing.\nThe role is R&D-focused: you will develop novel methods to improve readout performance, not only through new calibration methods but also by improving QPU design and hardware. You will work closely with experienced engineers and researchers in our Readout team across Espoo and Munich, and with our QPU design, fabrication, calibration, software, and error correction teams.\nThis position sits at the intersection of quantum physics research, QPU hardware and software, offering strong opportunities for learning and growth. You will work on state-of-the-art quantum computers.\nThe role is based at our headquarters in Espoo, Finland. Working from our Munich office in Germany is also possible.\nWhat you’ll actually do\nDevelop and test new readout techniques for quantum processors, including mid-circuit and terminal readout\n\nDevelop new calibration methods and benchmarking workflows that our calibration teams use every day\n\nTurn your findings into improvements in QPU design and hardware\n\nImplement your methods in our software framework and validate them on real quantum hardware\n\nAnalyze experimental data and identify what limits readout performance\n\nModel and simulate readout using theory such as circuit QED, to guide new methods and QPU designs\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, fabrication)\n\nDocument results, present findings internally and externally, and contribute to patent applications for new methods\n\nWhat we’re looking for\nHands-on or theoretical experience with qubits of any modality, such as running qubit measurements or circuit QED theory\n\nExperience with software development, including Python and its ecosystem; familiarity with git version control is a plus\n\nSolid foundation in physics or a related field\n\nPh.D. in Physics or a related field, or equivalent industry experience\n\nProven high-level scientific publications\n\nA scientific mindset: you want to develop new methods, not just apply existing ones\n\nAbility to learn quickly and solve problems independently\n\nGood reporting and documentation skills\n\nNice-to-have\nExposure to quantum error correction\n\nExperimental lab work or measurement systems\n\nCryogenic microwave engineering\n\nExperience with parametric amplifiers, such as JPAs or TWPAs\n\nWhy IQM?\nFull-stack quantum computing: From quantum hardware to software layers and beyond, we build across the full-stack.\n\nHigh-performance playground: We aim high, and we know sustainable performance only works when life outside work does too-hybrid setups, flexible hours.\n\nNever the smartest: Expect to learn constantly.
