IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC. \nReporting to the Director, Network Delivery, the Senior Project Manager – Network Infrastructure Design & Standards is the portfolio design authority for the passive and physical network infrastructure that supports IREN’s data center campuses: outside-plant and inside-plant fiber, carrier entrances and meet-me rooms, campus backbone, structured cabling, pathways, and the rack, rack-unit and power placement of network equipment. \nThe role develops and maintains the network infrastructure standards the Director approves, and then holds every campus to them: approving designs, deviations and test packages, directing external architecture and engineering partners on telecom design, and setting the acceptance criteria that construction is measured against. It is an individual-contributor role with design-approval authority, working alongside the Senior Project Manager – Route Planning, the Senior Project Managers – Network Delivery and the Senior Project Managers – Site Network Delivery. \nWith 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in. ResponsibilitiesStandards and governance \n\nDevelop and maintain the portfolio network infrastructure standards – fiber architecture, cable and connector types, panel and splice architecture, pathways, MMR and MDF/IDF design, labeling, testing and acceptance criteria – and submit them to the Director, Network Delivery for approval.\n\nApprove or reject telecom and fiber designs, deviations and substitutions against the approved standards; maintain the technical exception record and the remediation conditions that go with it.\n\nRun design reviews at 30 / 60 / 90 percent and IFC for every campus; no construction package is released and no carrier order is placed before the gate is passed.\n\nSet and track engineering KPIs: standards compliance, RFI and change-order reduction, first-pass test acceptance, documentation completeness and turnover quality.\nFiber infrastructure engineering \n\nLead the engineering review of OSP and ISP fiber infrastructure across the portfolio: carrier connectivity, campus backbone, inter-building and inter-campus connectivity, and the fiber serving compute, enterprise and operational technology networks.\n\nEstablish fiber-count and capacity requirements from current demand, redundancy, customer growth and future expansion; own the spare-capacity strategy for strands, panel ports, pathways and telecommunications spaces.\n\nSet fiber-loss budgets, optical performance requirements and standardized distribution and patching architectures, including splice-versus-patch decisions.\n\nCarrier entrance, MMR and diversity criteria \n\nSet the standards for carrier entrance facilities, meet-me rooms, duct banks, manholes, handholes and diverse building entrances.\n\nDefine the physical-diversity and shared-risk criteria that the Senior Project Manager – Route Planning applies to candidate routes; review route packages for compliance.\n\nDefine demarcation, rack, cross-connect, power, grounding and carrier equipment placement standards in the MMR.\n\nCampus infrastructure and equipment placement \n\nDevelop and approve campus fiber backbone architectures and MMR, core, MDF, IDF and telecommunications-room connectivity requirements.\n\nDetermine the room, rack and rack-unit position for new network equipment; coordinate A/B power and PDU outlet assignments with Electrical and Facilities Engineering.\n\nCoordinate telecommunications infrastructure with civil, electrical, architectural, structural and mechanical design so pathways, rooms and power are protected in every building.\n\nA/E and consultant direction \n\nDirect external A/E firms and engineering consultants on telecom design: scopes of work, deliverables, milestones and review expectations.\n\nReview and approve basis-of-design documents, specifications, drawings, fiber schematics, rack elevations, pathway plans, splice diagrams, port assignments and fiber matrices.\n\nHold consultants accountable for quality, completeness, constructability and compliance with IREN standards; evaluate performance across projects.\n\nConstruction support and engineering assurance \n\nConduct constructability reviews before construction packages are issued; superintendents and Senior Project Managers – Site Network Delivery attend the 60 percent review.\n\nProvide technical direction on field conditions and engineering conflicts raised through RFIs by the Senior Project Managers – Site Network Delivery; evaluate proposed changes for reliability, capacity, cost, schedule and future expansion.\n\nParticipate in engineering-verification walks and confirm installed infrastructure matches approved design intent.\nTesting and acceptance \n\nSet the portfolio fiber acceptance standard: Tier 1 testing, Tier 2/OTDR, insertion loss, optical return loss where applicable, polarity, end-face inspection, splice-loss limits and launch/receive requirements.\n\nReview and approve test packages before infrastructure is accepted; define the process for failed tests and deficiencies.\n\nApply acceptance criteria consistently across campuses and contractors.\n\nNetBox, DCIM and documentation \n\nOwn the NetBox/DCIM data standard for physical infrastructure: asset, rack, panel, port, cable, circuit and pathway naming and the data required at each construction stage.\n\nDefine the handover data required from designers, contractors and carriers so as-builts match installed conditions.\n\nCross-functional coordination and risk \n\nPartner with Network Engineering so logical design and equipment standards are reflected in physical design before construction; Network Engineering decides what a device does, this role decides where it lives and how it connects.\n\nProvide technical input into RFQs, contractor bids and carrier proposals; support make-versus-buy decisions with the Senior Project Manager – Route Planning and Procurement.\n\nIdentify engineering risks and single points of failure across the portfolio; conduct root-cause analysis after significant infrastructure failures and drive portfolio-wide corrective actions.\n\nEscalate unresolved technical risks to the Director, Network Delivery with a recommendation.\n\nRequirements\nMinimum 10 years of telecommunications, fiber infrastructure, data center engineering or network infrastructure experience.\n\n5+ years of proven project management on mid to large data center or mission-critical programs, including ownership of telecom or fiber design scope through construction and acceptance.\n\nDeep technical expertise in outside-plant and inside-plant fiber, carrier entrance and MMR design, campus backbone, structured cabling and telecommunications spaces and pathways.\n\nExperience directing engineering consultants and A/E firms and reviewing complex construction and engineering packages: basis of design, specifications, drawings, fiber schematics, splice diagrams, fiber matrices, rack elevations, submittals and RFIs.\n\nWorking knowledge of ANSI/TIA-568, 569, 606 and 758, ISO/IEC 11801, BICSI TDMM and OSP guidance, IEEE 802.3, NEC and applicable NFPA requirements.\n\nAdvanced understanding of fiber-optic systems: OS2 and OM4/OM5, MPO/MTP and LC connectivity, optical-loss budgets, Tier 1 and Tier 2/OTDR testing, splice-loss acceptance, DWDM and coherent optics.\n\nExperience with NetBox or other DCIM platforms, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Procore or similar tools.\n\nExecutive presence and reporting: able to explain technical risk and recommend a decision to technical and executive audiences, in writing and in person.\n\nExperience in a fast-paced growth environment and in solving complex problems with company-wide impact.\n\nOSHA 30.\n\nStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).\n\nPreferred qualifications – network and telecommunications \n\nHigh-capacity architectures: 100G, 400G and 800G optical connectivity, DWDM and optical transport, and coordination with Network Engineering on logical design.\n\nNetwork equipment physical deployment: room, rack and rack-unit placement, A/B power and PDU outlet assignment, cable management and airflow constraints.\n\nOperational technology networks: physical infrastructure dependencies for BMS, EPMS, fire and life-safety monitoring, security, CCTV, access control, Wi-Fi and environmental monitoring.\n\nInfrastructure records: NetBox or other DCIM data standards, naming conventions, port and cable identifiers, and as-built validation.\n\nStandards and program governance: authoring and rolling out design standards, templates and acceptance criteria across multiple sites.\n\nAlso highly regarded \n\nBICSI RCDD, OSP or RTPM, FOA CFOS/D, PE or equivalent credentials.\n\nPM certification (PMP or equivalent) highly regarded but not required.\n\nExperience supporting high-density AI, HPC or hyperscale environments.\n\nExperience on direct-to-subcontractor (multi-prime) delivery as well as GC-led delivery.\n\nFamiliarity with GIS tools and with Primavera P6.\n\nBenefitsCompensation \n\nActual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and market data for the region.\n\nTotal Compensation package may be inclusive of annual incentive bonus, equity (long-term incentive).\n\nRelocation (as applicable and based on successful candidate circumstances)\n\nHealth & Wellness \n\n100% company paid health insurance premiums (medical, dental, and vision) for employees, 75% company paid coverage for dependents\n\nCompany-paid short-term and long-term disability insurance\n\nVoluntary life, critical illness, and accident coverage available\n\nHealth Savings Accounts (HSA) – when combined with the High Deductible Health Plan\n\nEmployee Assistance Program and wellness resources\n\nRetirement & Financial Wealth \n\n401(k) retirement plan with company match\n\nAccess to financial planning and legal services\n\nTime Off & Leave Programs \nPaid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays\nGrowth & Development \n\nInternal skills training and advancement pathways\n\nProfessional development to support certifications, continuing education, or role related training\n\nCommunity & Culture \nCompany events and team-building activities\nWe value diverse perspectives and believe that skills can be developed.
