You will be working within the Turbopump Team and collaborate with system owners of all subcomponents of the engine.\nYour Role in Our Space Mission: \nDevelop and maintain modular engine models of existing engines and fluid systems as well as conceptual engines in the development phase for engine load point predictions and performance studies. Coordinate with product owners and ensure model characterization of every subcomponent of the engine and maintain component performance database. \nProvide load point predictions during development and test campaigns and define acceptance criteria for flight engines / qualification tests with respect to engine performance. \n\nDevelop tools for engine load point predictions to ramp up acceptance testing cadence and build and maintain component characterization database. \nServe as point of contact to provide engine performance metrices for the flight software to Guidance Navigation Controls and conduct uncertainty quantification for such metrices. Maintain database of characteristic parameters such as Isp and mass flow as well as lookup tables for engine transients. \nMaintain secondary engine models relevant for rocket kinematics in all phases of the mission such as thrust generated by chill down bleed flows, purges etc. \nConduct conceptional engine performance studies in early development of future launch systems or iterations of Spectrum. \n\nEnsure consistent data acquisition quality of engine performance parameters in development testing, stage testing and flight. Define Sensor requirements for in flight performance verification of the engines. \nElaborate uncertainty propagation of the entire measurement chain in collaboration with test rig responsibles to maintain a high data quality standard. \n\nQualification Checklist \nM.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or similar. \nExceptional knowledge in thermodynamics and rocket motor system architecture as well as sub system interactions. \nKnowledge in measurement technology and stochastic analysis (Uncertainty Quantification and propagation). \nFundamental understanding of combustion, thrust chambers, valves and turbopump systems. \nProven experience in developing and validating empiric, semi empiric or analytical models as well as setting up cycle models of complex fluid systems/machinery \nEffective collaborator in multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams, organized, detail-oriented, and proactive. Ability to adapt to shifting priorities. \nDriven and eager to learn, passionate about new space, fluent in English \nBonus Skills \nProfessional work experience in rocket propulsion development. \nWorking experience in Simulink or cycle model development in rocket/aircraft engines or similar \nWillingness to travel to support engine test campaigns and launch campaigns abroad. \nBenefits \nEmployee Participation Program: Share in our success through our virtual company share program\n30 days of vacation: Enjoy the days off to relax and recharge \nCompany pension plan: Secure your future with our company pension plan, featuring a 20% employer contribution after the probation period\nSubsidised lunch: Stay energised with delicious, subsidised lunches every day\nRental clothing with laundry service: Enjoy hassle-free workwear with our convenient rental clothing and laundry service \n Sport Clubs membership: Stay fit with our sponsored sports club memberships (EGYM Wellpass)\nIndividual learning allowance: Grow your skills with an individual learning budget granted after the probation period\nChildcare allowance: Receive a childcare allowance for your non-school-age children\nFlexible mobility budget: Travel your way with a choice between a fully financed Deutschlandticket, JobRad bicycle leasing, FINN JobAuto, or a fuel allowance\nAnd Much More!
