This is not just an ETL/data engineering role. The ideal candidate should understand how SAP business processes are represented across underlying SAP tables and be able to translate complex SAP transactional structures into scalable, business-friendly dimensional and analytical models. The candidate should be comfortable working with SAP functional teams, data engineers, architects, BI teams, and business stakeholders to understand the business process, identify the appropriate SAP source tables and relationships, and design data models that can support enterprise reporting and analytics. \nKey Responsibilities: \nDesign and develop enterprise data models using data originating from SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA. \n\nUnderstand SAP business processes and translate functional requirements into technical data models. Identify the appropriate SAP tables, keys, relationships, joins, document flows, and business rules necessary to represent business processes correctly. \n\nBuild and optimize SAP HANA Calculation Views and analytical models. Transform complex SAP transactional structures into fact, dimension, and other analytics-ready models for enterprise data warehousing. \n\nModel SAP data across functional areas such as: Sales & Distribution (SD) Materials Management (MM) Finance / Controlling (FI/CO) Order-to-Cash Procure-to-Pay Inventory and Supply Chain Understand relationships across common SAP business objects such as sales orders, deliveries, billing documents, purchase orders, material movements, inventory, customers, vendors, materials, and financial postings. \n\nWork with functional SMEs to validate that data models accurately represent the underlying SAP business process. \n\nDevelop reusable, scalable models that can support BI reporting, ad hoc SQL analytics, dashboards, and downstream data products. Perform data reconciliation and validation between SAP source systems and warehouse/analytical models. \n\nTroubleshoot complex SAP data issues by tracing records through source tables, transformations, and downstream models. \n\nPartner with Data Engineering and Architecture teams to establish modeling patterns and standards for SAP data. \n\nDocument source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, business definitions, lineage, and model relationships. \n\nRequired Experience: \nStrong hands-on experience as an SAP Data Engineer, SAP HANA Modeler, SAP BW/HANA developer, or SAP-focused Data Warehouse Modeler. \n\nExtensive experience working directly with SAP transactional tables, not only consuming predefined extracts or reports. \n\nStrong SAP functional understanding combined with technical data modeling experience.
