Our European branch, based in Luxembourg, is uniquely positioned at the heart of rover design, development, and operations.\nWe’re building the foundations of a sustainable lunar economy - and expanding humanity’s reach beyond Earth.\nAt ispace EU, engineers, business experts, and creatives work side by side to turn bold ideas into reality, driven by our mission: “Expand our Planet, Expand our Future.”\nTITLE: Embedded Software Engineer (C / EMBEDDED LINUX / FPGA SYSTEMS)\nLOCATION: Luxembourg\nABOUT THE ROLE\nispace Europe islooking for an Embedded Software Engineer to develop software for lunar rover systems. The software will run directly on embedded computers and electronic hardware used by the rover.\nThis is a hands-on embedded software role. You will write C code, work with embedded Linux, connect software to electronic hardware, and test the software on real devices. You will work closely with FPGA, electronics, systems, and test engineers.\n\nREQUIRED: Embedded C development and embedded Linux experience.\nSTRONGLY PREFERRED: Experience with SW/FPGA integration.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nDevelop reliable, embedded software for lunar rover systems.\nWrite, review, debug, and maintain C software for embedded devices, rover subsystems, and hardware interfaces.\nDevelop and integrate software on embedded Linux, including threads, processes, communication between processes, synchronization, and Linux system interfaces.\nDefine clear software requirements, designs, interfaces, and development plans.\nWork with FPGA, electronics, avionics, systems, mechanical, and test engineers to connect software with hardware and solve system problems.\nCreate and run unit, integration, functional, verification, and validation tests.\nDebug problems on real hardware, find the root cause, fix the software, and verify the solution.\nIdentify software risks early and help reduce them.\nWrite and maintain clear requirements, designs, interface documents, test procedures, and test reports.\nImprove coding standards, development tools, automation, testing, and software quality.\nMANDATORY REQUIREMENTS - MUST HAVE\nMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems or equivalent professional experience.\nAt least 5 years of professional software development experience, including substantial embedded software work.\nProfessional experience writing and debugging C software that runs on embedded devices. This is essential.\nStrong hands-on experience with embedded Linux application development and operation. This is required.\nExperience testing and debugging software on real electronic hardware.\nExperience with threads, concurrent programming, communication between processes, synchronization, and Linux system interfaces.\nExperience with requirements, design, implementation, code review, testing, integration, and verification.\nExperience using version control, code review, build, and issue-tracking tools.\nUnderstanding how software choices affect processors, memory, timing, interfaces, and the wider system.\nClear written and spoken English and the ability to work effectively with hardware and multidisciplinary teams.\nSTRONGLY PREFERRED - FPGA AND RELATED EXPERIENCE\nFPGA knowledge or experience integrating software with FPGA-based systems. Candidates with this experience will be given a strong preference.\nExperience working with FPGA register maps, memory-mapped interfaces, interrupts, DMA, and hardware/software integration tests.\nExperience with FPGA configuration/development tools.\nEmbedded Linux kernel configuration, build systems, boot process, device tree, or Linux driver development.\nExperience with real-time or resource-limited systems.\nExperience with I2C, UART, SPI, CAN, Ethernet, or TCP/UDP/IP.\nBoard bring-up and laboratory debugging using tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers.\nExperience in space, aerospace, robotics, automotive, industrial, or other high-reliability engineering field.\nExperience with GitLab, Atlassian tools, CI/CD, automated builds, and automated testing.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4263,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"master","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[{"language":"English","level":"All levels","optional":false}]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"Luxembourg","iso":"LU","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Space Services"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-24T18:56:48Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":60,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.602,"p_room":1,"age_days":9,"expected_fill_days":59,"reasons":["conf:0","stale_co","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-04T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/ispace-embedded-software-engineer-2","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/ispace-embedded-software-engineer-2.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-05T00:45:20Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":927,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":4073,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-06T00:00:00Z"}}}
