The coordinator will work collaboratively with the Respiratory faculty to ensure attainment of student learning needs and program goals. The Simulation Coordinator will report to the Chair of the Respiratory Therapy Department.\nTYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:\nCollaborates with Respiratory Faculty to develop and implement clinical and simulation experiences that support student and program success while aligning with Departmental course outcomes.\n\nWorks with the Respiratory faculty to review and research policies, standard practices, and procedures related to simulation.\n\nIn conjunction with the Respiratory Faculty, implements and updates simulation activities consistent with current best practices and accreditation standards, that meet or exceed current CoARC and NBRC guidelines.\n\nAssists the course faculty by coordinating, scheduling, preparing, and implementing simulation experiences for all appropriate courses.\n\nUtilizes advanced technical simulation equipment and communicates that knowledge to others as needed.\n\nEnsures maintenance and repair of simulation manikins and other simulation equipment.\n\nProvides orientation to Faculty, Instructors, Staff, and Students on simulation policies, procedures, use, and care of the simulation equipment.\n\nConfirms all simulation equipment is fully operational before simulation activity; ensures equipment is turned off and stored appropriately after use.\n\nMaintains an inventory of simulation equipment and supplies and formulates budget recommendations.\n\nActs as a liaison between the Respiratory program, other health science programs, and affiliated clinical site staff.\n\nAdheres to all College, department, and CoARC accreditation policies and follows the process as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct;\n\nParticipate in appropriate professional development activities to assure currency in both discipline, knowledge, and instructional methods\n\nMay perform other duties as required by the Respiratory Department.\n\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:\nConditions are those of a typical office and classroom environment, requiring frequent oral and written communication with college employees, students, and vendors. The presentation of information can be online and in a face-to-face setting. The ability to enter data and written communications in electronic format promptly. To be attentive to details related to being aware of the safe and appropriate operation of the lab equipment and material. Additionally, the ability to foster a team environment, work collaboratively, and demonstrate a commitment to providing exemplary customer service is essential.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:\nNYS License as a Registered Respiratory Therapist and RRT credentials with the National Board for Respiratory Care.\n\nBachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care, education, health sciences, or related field.\n\nPossess working knowledge of respiratory care concepts with the ability to apply them in various situations.\n\nMust have personal transportation and be willing to travel to clinical affiliate sites.\n\nMust be willing to obtain BLS and ACLS instructor certifications within 1 year of hire and NRP and PALS instructor certifications within 2 years of hire.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS \nMinimum of two years' experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs.\n\nLearning and or teaching in a simulated environment.\n\nMember of the AARC\n\nSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:\nPlease attach unofficial transcripts with your application.
