Senior Java Software Engineer - FICC Front Office | Investment Banking

This role starts fully on-site in Warsaw during the onboarding period. Once you've settled in and demonstrated your performance, a hybrid arrangement becomes available.

As a Senior Java Software Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading global financial institution, contributing to the development of a strategic data and AI platform at the heart of their Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) front office. You will play a key role in expanding the Activity Queue - the firm's most comprehensive trade data platform - and integrating it with mission-critical trade control and risk management systems. This is a high-visibility project with direct senior leadership sponsorship, offering a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of data engineering, AI, and investment banking technology.

Your main responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable Java-based solutions for FICC front office applications, including trade booking and trade control systems
• Contribute to the expansion of the Activity Queue data platform - enriching it with historical trade data and increasing usage across the firm
• Build and integrate AI tools and agents to support trade control functions, including automated break management and risk analytics for traders, salespeople, and strats
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (core engineering, business stakeholders, quant strats) to design, integrate, and optimize trading and data platforms
• Ensure full system observability - implement and maintain monitoring using SRE principles (Prometheus, Grafana, P95 performance tracking)
• Implement new features and enhancements to support innovative trading and data functionalities
• Maintain clear documentation on system architecture, workflows, and updates
• Leverage AI development tools (GitHub Copilot, GSAI, Claude Code) to maximize productivity and delivery quality

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• 4+ years of commercial Java development experience, preferably in investment banking or financial services
• Strong hands-on experience with Java
• Understanding of SRE principles - full observability, P95 metrics, monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
• Experience with Git for version control

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Demonstrated ability to use AI tools effectively in day-to-day development (AI-driven development, building AI agents, working with LLM-based tooling)
• Hands-on experience with advanced monitoring and alerting tools
• Experience with cloud platforms or DevOps practices
• Certifications related to financial software development or system reliability
• Knowledge of Slang language is a plus
