Additionally, dishwashers are expected to keep dishwashing areas clean and safe. The position is considered to be essential during emergency situations and the incumbent is subject to being requested to report to work.\nSupervision:\nThis position reports to the management team of Terrace Dining Hall.\nJob Responsibilities:\nScrape, rinse, and load dishes and utensils into dish machine. \nWash and sanitize all pans, utensils, and dishes. \nClean, sanitize, and maintain dish machine. \nUnload dishes and utensils from dish machine and organize them properly. \nManually wash pots and equipment that cannot be run through the dish machine. \nEmpty trash containers regularly. \nSweep, mop, and remove trash, recycling, and compost from all unit areas as needed and during assigned times. \nService unit dining rooms. Aid in cleaning and sanitizing tables and chairs as needed throughout meal periods. \nClean and sanitize high touchpoints in the dining room, front-of-house, and back-of-house. \nPerform additional cleaning duties as requested. \nOperate a baler. \nCommunicate often, clearly, and professionally with co-works and management. \nGreet guests with a warm, friendly demeanor. \nProvide exceptional customer service for all guests. \nUphold all required safety, service, and hygiene protocols and adjust practices to meet College and state regulations.\nRequired Qualifications:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent and previous work history.\nAbility to adhere to all food preparation and service standards set by Ithaca College Dining Services staff.\nCapacity to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., reach overhead, bend, stand for long periods of time, squat, and perform repetitive motions.\nAbility to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, overtime, and some holidays.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPrevious dining and dish room experience.\nKnowledge of proper sanitation, HACCP procedures, basic food handling and safety.\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service while working effectively and respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment.\nWork Environment:\nThe Utility Worker/Dish Machine Operator completes work within an accessible, safe, indoor, and occasional outdoor environment. Long periods of walking, standing, bending, and carrying moderately heavy items (up to 50 pounds) may be necessary.
