Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.Location: South Bend\nEmployment Type: Part Time\nCompensation: $47.35 Per Contract Hour\n\nMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:\nFacilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.\nMakes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.\nDevelops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.\nEngages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).\nInteracts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.\nEnsures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.\nThis is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and\nPrivacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nCompleted academic preparation appropriate to the course(s) being taught.\nHolds an Indiana EMT or higher certification.\nHas two years of directly related work experience.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nHolds an associate degree or higher in Paramedic Science or related field.\nHolds an Indiana State Paramedic License.\nHolds an Indiana Department of Homeland Security Primary Instructor certification.\nHolds an AHA Instructor certification in BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS.\nHolds an NAEMT Instructor certification in PHTLS and/or AMLS.\n\nRETENTION AND STUDENT SUCCESS:\n1. Provide academic-related coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff.\n2. Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources.\n3. Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with campus expectations and the faculty loading policy in the Academic Support and Operations Manual (ASOM 7.2).\n4.
