Come join our team!General Purpose/Position Summary:\nThe CTE Instructor provides high-quality, hands-on technical training to incarcerated adult learners. The instructor delivers curriculum-aligned lessons, maintains required documentation, engages industry partners, supports credential attainment, and collaborates with Ivy Tech and IDOC to promote re-entry success.\nThe logistics course provides students with the foundational and mid-level knowledge they will need to understand the world of supply chain and related core competencies.This course will also integrate Adult Basic Education subjects and material.\nThis is a full time teaching position located at the Putnamville Correctional Facility in Greencastle, IN.\nMajor Responsibilities:\nInstructional Delivery\nProvide high-quality, standards-aligned instruction.\nTeach hands-on lab skills supporting industry certification and workplace readiness.\nBegin and end class on time per DOC, facility, and Ivy Tech schedules.\nUse instructional strategies that build technical and employability skills.\nPresent material clearly and accurately.\nEncourage active participation and collaborative work.\nDifferentiate instruction for learners with diverse readiness levels.\nSupport students requiring documented accommodations.\nUse of different modalities to increase learning opportunities.\nCareer & Employability Skill Development\nIntegrate employability and soft skills into instruction.\nCollaborate with HIRE and HIRE Academy coordinators.\nEngage trade professionals and employers for presentations and demonstrations.\nStudent Progress & Assessment\nMonitor and document student progress toward learning outcomes.\nAssess skills using performance, project-based, and written assessments.\nProvide timely and unbiased feedback.\nAdminister TABE and other exams as needed.\nTrack completions, credentials, and exit status.\nReview student progress at least monthly.\nDocumentation, Reporting & CQI\nMaintain records as required by Ivy Tech, IDOC, and facility.\nSubmit weekly attendance and student progress updates.\nComplete CQI CTE report each month.\nMaintain student files per compliance guidelines.\nSubmit enrollment/removal forms to central office.\nDevelop monthly lesson plans.\nTrack capacity, start/end dates, and projected program outcomes.\nSafety, Inventory & Equipment Management\nMaintain safe classroom and lab spaces.\nComplete and maintain tool, chemical, and equipment inventories.\nEnsure secure storage and compliance with IDOC security.\nIdentify supply/equipment needs and submit purchase requests.\nMaintain equipment in working order; report issues promptly.\nProgram Operations & Communication\nCollaborate with site and program leadership.\nParticipate in meetings and professional development.\nCoordinate testing and certification scheduling.\nCommunicate student status changes, removals, and completions.\nSupport program marketing and student recruitment.\nCommunicate with HIRE Coordinators on dates for Academies needed.\nClassroom Culture & Student Support\nCreate a positive learning environment.\nEncourage professionalism, safety, and work ethic.\nAdvise students on academic and workplace readiness.\nBuild professional rapport with students.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree or specialized training/experience in trade area.\nValid Indiana teaching license or willingness to obtain.\nIvy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our full-time faculty and staff.
