The Paramedic Science program at Ivy Tech is taught by some of the finest paramedics in the state and this is an opportunity to lead these instructors.The Program Director has responsibility to manage all elements of the academic program, including enrollment management, program administration, instructional quality, and ensuring coordination with academic and non-academic departments. The Program Director is the primary instructor for the paramedic science program and provides education and training directly to the students.\nThe Program Director is responsible for ongoing compliance with accreditation bodies and state agencies. This includes maintaining required documentation, monitoring program quality, and coordinating all activities necessary for continued accreditation and reaccreditation. \nMajor Responsibilities:\nINSTRUCTION\nDeliver assigned classes using technology that best support student learning.\nMaintain student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation as required.\nFacilitate student achievement of expected program learning outcomes.\nUse Learning Management System to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment and communication.\nEnsures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.\nRETENTION AND STUDENT SUCCESS\nProvide academic-related coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff.\nMonitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts.\nPromote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach to students by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means.\nPROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT\nParticipate in professional development activities that may include scheduled training, time spent onsite in related business and industries, and self-study to advance instructional and technical skills as well as current knowledge within the field of study.\nParticipate in activities related to the paramedic science and emergency medicine as required for certification and licensure.\nStay current in contemporary emergency medicine, digital technology, and other technology related to teaching that best support student learning.\nCOMMUNITY RELATIONS AND BUSINESS OUTREACH\nParticipate in community service activities on behalf of the college to advance the college’s relationships within its service area.\nDevelop community/industry/business contacts to advance college relationships.\nENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT\nReview and analyze program data as related to completion and retention.\nDetermine and lead action steps positively impacting retention.\nSupport development of student internships and other real-work experiences to support the curriculum and student experiential learning.\nPROGRAM ADMINISTRATION\nMaintain office administrative hours in accordance with the faculty loading guidelines.\nCoordinate program advisory committees and assure broad-based membership and participatory agendas.\nPERSONNEL MANAGEMENT\nCoordinate recruitment, evaluation, and development of full-time and adjunct faculty with experience to teach the paramedic curriculum.\nReview and respond to faculty, staff and student issues.\nThis list is not all-inclusive of duties.\nHiring Range:\n$50,000-70,000 annually based on experience\nMinimum Qualifications:\nA qualified candidate for Program Chair in paramedic science meets the following criteria:\nPossesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, and \nHolds an Indiana paramedic certification, and \nHolds an Indiana Department of Homeland Security Primary Instructor certification; and \nHas at least two years of directly related work experience as a licensed paramedic. \nPreferred Qualifications:\nMust have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction. \nExperience working in a high volume emergency services environment. \nBenefits:\nIvy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our full-time faculty and staff.
