DSS may determine alternative arrangements as needed\nDSS staff will act as the student’s hands\nWhen working in a laboratory will assist student in collecting materials and set up equipment. The student will give instructions on how to manipulate materials.\nDSS staff is responsible for providing notes that are effective for student, well organized, understandable, a clear reflection of the information presented, and timely delivered\nDSS staff will read and/or scribe in line with the student’s instructions\nDSS staff may be responsible for converting notes into a format accessible to the student and may use available resources including copy machines, computers, and other equipment\nDSS staff communicates well with student and with student's instructor\nFor clarification, DSS staff reviews notes with student by mutual arrangement (no tutoring)\nDSS staff maintains strict confidentiality of all information related to student's disability, academic performance and/or communications\nUnless enrolled in the class, DSS staff does not participate in class without the instructor's approval, nor do they perform duties unassigned by DSS for students or employees\nTo assist in such duties relevant to the work needs of the student as these needs arise and are reasonably requested\nAbility to transport students between the Coliseum and North Campus.\nThe above-listed functions require various degrees of independence, judgment and discretion, and the ability to be mobile in the office and/or work area.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nEducation: High school diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated competence in writing\nExperience: Some knowledge of subject area may be needed. Candidate should submit one of the following: two-page sample of class notes or a one-page letter of application.\nA valid diver’s license and become an approved driver with Ivy Tech.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nEducation: Prefer college level ability, completed English 111 course with above average grade\nExperience: Three months as paid or volunteer DSS staff.\nOther Requirements:\nSelected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.\nWork Hours: Varied\nIvy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.
