You'll assess plans, carry out site inspections, provide technical advice and help ensure building work complies with relevant regulations and statutory requirements.\nThe role requires strong technical knowledge, sound professional judgement and the ability to work effectively with developers, contractors, architects, property owners and internal Council teams.\nAbout the Role\nAs a Building Control Surveyor, you'll support the delivery of statutory building control services across a varied range of residential, commercial and public-sector projects.\nYou'll review technical information, inspect works on site, identify non-compliance and provide practical advice to help ensure buildings are safe and meet required standards.\nWhat you'll be doing:\nAssessing building control applications and technical submissions\nReviewing drawings, specifications and supporting documentation\nCarrying out site inspections at key stages of construction\nChecking compliance with Building Regulations and relevant legislation\nProviding technical advice to developers, contractors, architects and property owners\nIdentifying defects, risks and non-compliant work\nAdvising on remedial action where standards are not met\nMaintaining accurate inspection and case records\nPreparing reports, notices and formal correspondence\nManaging a varied caseload of building control projects\nMonitoring progress of works through to completion\nSupporting dangerous structures or urgent safety matters where required\nLiaising with planning, housing, property and other Council services\nWorking collaboratively with fire safety and other regulatory bodies\nKeeping up to date with changes to building regulations and technical guidance\nSupporting enforcement activity where necessary\nProviding professional input into complex or higher-risk building projects\nEnsuring statutory duties and service standards are met\nRequirements\nWe're looking for experienced building control or surveying professionals with strong technical knowledge and practical site experience.\nYou'll ideally have:\nPrevious experience as a Building Control Surveyor or Building Surveyor\nStrong knowledge of Building Regulations and associated technical guidance\nExperience assessing plans and technical submissions\nExperience carrying out construction site inspections\nGood understanding of building safety and compliance requirements\nAbility to identify defects and recommend remedial action\nStrong technical report-writing skills\nAbility to interpret drawings, specifications and construction details\nGood communication and stakeholder-management skills\nAbility to manage a varied caseload and meet statutory deadlines\nExperience working with developers, contractors and architects\nPrevious local authority building control experience would be highly desirable\nRelevant surveying, construction or building control qualification\nProfessional membership such as RICS, CABE or equivalent would be advantageous\nEligibility to work in the UK\nAbility to provide relevant references/work history\nAbility to complete required pre-employment checks\nWhy Apply\nTwo Building Control Surveyor positions available\nOpportunity to work with Wirral MBC\nCompetitive Umbrella rate of £29.29 per hour\nFull-time 36-hour working week\n12-week temporary assignment\nOpportunity to work across varied building control projects\nChance to further develop local authority surveying experience\nProfessional role combining technical assessment, site inspection and compliance\nBenefits\nWeekly Pay\nCompany Pension\nOngoing Agency Support\nAdditional Information\nClient: Wirral MBC\nJob Title: Building Control Surveyor -
