This role combines property inspections, defect identification, technical advice and the coordination of repairs and improvement works to help maintain buildings in a safe and serviceable condition.\nYou'll work closely with property colleagues, contractors and building occupiers, helping to identify maintenance needs, develop practical solutions and monitor the quality and progress of works.\nAbout the Role\nAs Building Surveyor, you'll undertake surveys and inspections of allocated properties, assess their condition and recommend appropriate repairs or improvements. You'll contribute to the preparation of specifications, estimates and maintenance programmes, supporting works from initial assessment through to completion.\nThe role requires sound technical knowledge, clear communication and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accurate records and a strong focus on quality and safety.\nWhat you'll be doing:\nCarrying out building inspections and condition surveys, identifying defects, maintenance requirements and potential safety concerns.\nInvestigating reported property issues, assessing likely causes and recommending proportionate repairs or further specialist investigation.\nPreparing clear survey reports and technical recommendations, recording findings and identifying priorities for action.\nProducing specifications, schedules of work and cost estimates for repairs, maintenance and improvement projects.\nSupporting planned maintenance programmes, using inspection findings to help prioritise works and inform future requirements.\nCoordinating repairs and improvement works, liaising with contractors and colleagues to support delivery within agreed timescales and budgets.\nMonitoring work on site, checking progress and workmanship against agreed specifications and raising concerns where necessary.\nLiaising with building occupiers and other stakeholders, arranging access, explaining proposed works and providing updates.\nSupporting completion inspections and follow-up actions, identifying outstanding defects and checking that agreed work has been addressed.\nMaintaining accurate property and project records, including inspection findings, correspondence, costs and completion information.\nFollowing relevant health and safety procedures, escalating risks and seeking specialist advice where work falls outside your competence.\nContributing to service improvements, identifying opportunities to strengthen maintenance planning, communication and the management of property information.\nRequirements\nWe're looking for an organised, practical and solutions-focused individual with relevant surveying or property maintenance experience and the ability to provide clear, well-supported technical advice.\nYou'll ideally have:\nExperience in building surveying, property maintenance or a comparable construction-related role.\nExperience inspecting buildings and identifying defects, with an understanding of appropriate repair methods.\nKnowledge of building construction, materials and maintenance practices.\nExperience preparing survey reports, specifications, schedules of work or cost estimates.\nExperience coordinating contractors and monitoring the quality and progress of building works.\nAwareness of relevant building standards and health and safety responsibilities.\nStrong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information clearly to non-specialists.\nGood organisational and IT skills, with confidence maintaining accurate records and managing several tasks at once.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively, using sound judgement and escalating issues appropriately.\nEligibility to work in the UK and the ability to provide employment references and complete the required pre-employment checks.\nWhy Apply\nOpportunity to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of council-managed properties.\nVaried role combining inspections, technical assessment and project coordination.\nChance to work with property professionals, contractors and building users.\nOpportunity to apply and develop your surveying experience within a local authority setting.\nBenefits\nWeekly Pay\nCompany Pension\nOngoing Agency Support\nBenefits are subject to confirmation of agency and payroll arrangements and individual eligibility.\nAdditional Information\nClient: Warwick District Council\nLocation: Saltisford, CV34 4UL\nWorking Arrangement: To be confirmed;
