You'll work closely with managers, HR colleagues and other stakeholders to provide practical, balanced and legally sound advice.\nThe role requires strong HR consultancy experience, excellent case-management skills and the ability to support managers through complex and sensitive people issues.\nAbout the Role\nAs an HR Consultant, you'll provide high-quality HR advice and consultancy support across Council services.\nYou'll manage a varied caseload, support complex employee relations matters and contribute to organisational change, policy implementation and workforce improvement initiatives.\nWhat you'll be doing:\nProviding professional HR advice and consultancy support to managers and service areas\nManaging complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence matters\nAdvising managers on employment law, HR policy and best practice\nSupporting formal investigations, hearings and appeals\nProviding advice on restructures, organisational change and consultation processes\nSupporting workforce planning and service transformation activity\nReviewing case documentation and recommending appropriate action\nHelping managers resolve workplace issues effectively and consistently\nProviding coaching and guidance to managers on people-management matters\nPreparing reports, correspondence and HR documentation\nSupporting policy development, review and implementation\nMaintaining accurate and confidential case records\nWorking closely with HR Business Partners and wider HR teams\nSupporting consultation and engagement with employees and representatives\nIdentifying workforce trends and recurring issues\nContributing to service improvement and HR process development\nEnsuring HR advice is fair, consistent and compliant with relevant legislation\nRequirements\nWe're looking for an experienced HR professional with strong advisory and consultancy skills.\nYou'll ideally have:\nSignificant experience in an HR Consultant, HR Advisor or similar role\nStrong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice\nExperience managing complex employee relations cases\nExperience advising managers on disciplinary, grievance, capability and sickness absence\nExperience supporting organisational change and restructuring\nStrong case-management and organisational skills\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\nAbility to provide clear, balanced and practical HR advice\nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills\nAbility to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately\nConfidence working with managers at different levels of seniority\nExperience working in a unionised environment would be advantageous\nPrevious local authority or public-sector HR experience would be highly
