We're recruiting a proactive and organised Practise & Workforce Support Manager to support Enfield Council with workforce coordination, staff development and effective operational support. This role combines team coordination, process improvement and partnership working to help staff access the guidance, resources and support they need.

You'll work closely with service managers, colleagues and relevant support teams, helping identify workforce priorities, strengthen working practices and coordinate activities that contribute to effective service delivery.

About the Role

As Practise & Workforce Support Manager, you'll coordinate practice and workforce support activities within your allocated service. You'll help translate service priorities into clear actions, support staff development arrangements and monitor progress against agreed objectives.

The role requires strong organisational skills, sound judgement and the ability to balance day-to-day operational demands with improvements to staff support and working processes. The precise service area and management responsibilities are to be confirmed by the council.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with service managers to identify workforce priorities, highlighting development needs, capacity pressures and opportunities to strengthen support.
  • Coordinating the work of allocated staff or project groups, establishing priorities, monitoring progress and encouraging effective collaboration.
  • Supporting induction and staff development arrangements, helping new starters settle into their roles and coordinating relevant learning opportunities.
  • Reviewing working processes and support arrangements, identifying gaps, duplication or delays and recommending practical improvements.
  • Supporting consistent practice, helping maintain clear procedures, guidance and shared resources for colleagues.
  • Monitoring workforce and service information, preparing reports that highlight progress, emerging concerns and actions requiring management attention.
  • Working collaboratively with HR, learning and development, business support and operational teams, progressing agreed actions and resolving queries.
  • Supporting change and improvement projects, coordinating activities, communicating updates and helping teams adapt to new ways of working.
  • Gathering feedback from staff and managers, using it to identify opportunities to improve support and development arrangements.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential records, handling sensitive information responsibly and escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Promoting inclusive working practices, supporting fair access to development opportunities and treating colleagues with respect.

Requirements

We're looking for a proactive, approachable and solutions-focused individual with experience coordinating teams, supporting workforce development or improving operational services.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience in workforce support, practice development, business support management or a comparable service improvement role.
  • Experience managing staff, coordinating teams or leading projects, with the ability to establish priorities and monitor delivery.
  • An understanding of workforce development, including induction, training needs, staff support and continuous learning.
  • Experience reviewing processes and implementing improvements, with a practical approach to resolving operational challenges.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to work constructively with managers and colleagues across different functions.
  • Confidence analysing information and preparing reports, using evidence to identify issues and recommend action.
  • Good organisational and IT skills, including the ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain accurate electronic records.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, taking ownership of agreed actions and seeking guidance when required.
  • A professional approach to confidential and sensitive information, recognising when matters need specialist advice or escalation.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and the ability to provide employment references and complete the required pre-employment checks.
