{"id":2409272,"url":"https://alion.io/job/iworkrecruitment-active-travel-project-manager","title":"Active Travel Project Manager","company":{"id":4422609,"name":"iWork Recruitment","domain":"iworkrecruitment.uk","url":"https://alion.io/company/iworkrecruitment","size_band":null,"is_staffing_agency":true,"employer_type":"agency","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"Manatal","truth_index":null},"role":"Management","role_family":"Management","seniority":null,"employment_type":null,"work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["Taunton, United Kingdom"],"countries":["GB"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":null,"salary_estimate":{"min_usd":44000,"max_usd":97000,"period":"year","method":"role_country_seniority_unknown","sample_n":799},"experience_years_min":null,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-10-13T01:47:34Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-10-13","last_verified_at":"2026-10-22T12:41:35Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":9,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":9},"description":"Contract to start ASAP\nDuration: 51 weeks with a possible extension.\nJob Purpose\nSupport the Service Manager and Principal Transport Planner to oversee the development and scheme preparation stages of new active travel schemes, through to the commencement of construction and handover to operational delivery.\nManages projects as the scheme transitions into construction.\nCo-ordinates with the various stakeholders to agree robust proposals, appropriate engagement from all necessary parties, commissioning of necessary technical activity and securing of necessary approvals and consents.\nThe focus of this role will be on the Active Travel Programme, but the successful candidate will be required to become involved in other team and interdisciplinary projects.\nResponsibilities\nInitiate project inception and associated processes. o Establish appropriate governance (project and programme) and agree project roles and responsibilities.\nWith the Programme Management Office, establish the project organisation and reinforce the roles, responsibilities and deliverables for each team member.\nCo-ordinate the activities of a multi-discipline project team which may consist of development, design, construction, commercial, planning, testing, and commissioning and support resources.\nSupport the Service Manager in progressing business case development from the strategic outline business case stage through to full business case.\nCommission technical activity to support the scheme development and preparation, e.g. traffic modelling, highways design, legal and planning advice, land-acquisition and property, surveys, consultations, etc.\nCo-ordinate consultation and engagement processes.\nDevelop and gain approval for procurement strategy in association with the project team.\nObtain formal decisions to proceed at each business case stage or gateway under the Council's scheme of delegation.\nSupport the Service Manager in gaining authority to seek planning consents and use of CPO powers if needed.\nMaintain and monitor progress to programme and budget through outline and detailed design.\nEnsure outcomes and outputs are delivered at each stage.\nCommission Early Contractor Involvement/ Buildability advice as necessary.\nCommission Minor Transport Scheme Programmes Act as commissioner to ensure that an agreed framework is in place to identify, prioritise and deliver a programme of minor transport improvement schemes and safety related improvements.\nWork with operations in an advisory capacity to ensure that appropriate processes are in place and that the criteria for scheme selection and prioritisation reflect the Council's overall policy priorities.\nDisclaimer: On applying for this vacancy, you agree that your personal details will be passed onto our client for their consideration of your suitability for the role.
