Delivery of Strategic Technology Solutions\nWe're recruiting an experienced ISP Solution Architect (Interim) to join Bradford Metropolitan District Council, providing senior technical leadership across complex digital and technology programmes.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced Solution Architect with a strong background in enterprise architecture, infrastructure, cloud, networking, security, integration, and large-scale public-sector technology transformation.\nYou'll work closely with senior stakeholders, technical teams, suppliers, delivery partners, and programme leads to design robust, scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions aligned with the Council's strategic objectives.\nAbout the Role\nAs an ISP Solution Architect (Interim), you'll be responsible for developing end-to-end solution designs across complex technology environments, ensuring that architecture decisions support business requirements, security standards, interoperability, performance, and long-term sustainability.\nYou'll provide expert technical guidance across programmes and projects, helping shape architecture standards, assess options, manage technical risk, and support successful delivery.\nWhat you'll be doing:\nDesigning end-to-end technology solutions across complex enterprise environments\nProducing high-level and detailed solution architectures aligned with organisational strategy\nTranslating business requirements into practical technical designs\nProviding technical leadership across major digital and IT transformation programmes\nDefining architecture principles, standards, and design patterns\nAssessing existing systems and recommending appropriate future-state solutions\nDesigning solutions across cloud, infrastructure, networking, applications, integration, and security\nEnsuring solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and cost-effective\nReviewing and challenging technical proposals from internal teams and external suppliers\nWorking closely with enterprise architects, technical architects, engineers, developers, and programme teams\nSupporting technology procurement and supplier evaluation\nDeveloping architecture documentation, roadmaps, diagrams, and decision records\nManaging technical risks, dependencies, and architectural constraints\nEnsuring interoperability between legacy and modern platforms\nSupporting cloud adoption and migration strategies\nProviding guidance on identity, access, security, and data architecture\nSupporting integration across multiple systems and platforms\nEnsuring architecture decisions comply with relevant security, governance, and data standards\nContributing to technical governance boards and design authorities\nSupporting business cases and options appraisals\nWorking with stakeholders to understand priorities, constraints, and delivery requirements\nProviding clear technical recommendations to senior decision-makers\nSupporting transition from design into implementation and delivery\nRequirements\nWe're looking for a highly experienced, strategic, and technically credible Solution Architect with a strong track record of delivering complex technology solutions.\nYou'll ideally have:\nSignificant experience working as a Solution Architect or Technical Architect\nExperience designing enterprise-scale technology solutions\nStrong knowledge of cloud platforms and cloud architecture\nStrong experience across infrastructure, networking, integration, applications, and security\nExperience working within large and complex IT environments\nStrong understanding of enterprise architecture principles\nExperience translating business requirements into technical architecture\nExperience producing solution designs, architecture diagrams, and technical documentation\nKnowledge of Microsoft Azure or equivalent cloud platforms\nExperience with identity and access management\nStrong understanding of cybersecurity and secure-by-design principles\nExperience designing integrations between enterprise systems\nExperience working with legacy and modern technology estates\nExperience supporting digital transformation programmes\nStrong supplier and stakeholder management experience\nExperience working with third-party technology vendors and delivery partners\nAbility to assess technical options and make clear recommendations\nStrong understanding of architecture governance and design assurance\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills\nAbility to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders\nExperience working within local government, public sector, or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous\nRelevant architecture certification such as TOGAF would be advantageous\nEligibility to work in the UK\nAbility to provide three years of references/work history\nAbility to complete a Criminal Convictions Declaration\nAbility to sign a
