Refuse Driver

Responsibilities
Safely drive and operate refuse collection vehicles in accordance with company and council procedures.
Complete scheduled waste and refuse collections across designated routes.
Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects or maintenance issues promptly.
Work closely with refuse collection crew members to ensure efficient and safe collection operations.
Operate vehicle-mounted lifting equipment and other waste collection mechanisms where required.
Manoeuvre heavy vehicles safely in residential streets, narrow roads, busy areas, and other challenging environments.
Ensure all collected waste is transported safely to designated disposal, treatment, or recycling facilities.
Follow designated routes and collection schedules.
Assist with the manual handling and collection of waste where required and appropriate.
Ensure bins, containers, and waste are collected and returned safely and appropriately.
Report missed collections, access problems, damaged containers, hazardous materials, or other issues to the appropriate supervisor.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping within the vehicle and work area.
