Responsibilities
The postholder, for the duration of the assignment, will be expected to work exclusively with the new permanent member of staff in order to pass on their VAT knowledge and experience
The postholder will, with the help of other members of Accountancy, be responsible for gaining an understanding of VAT matters specific to AVBC
This will include but is not limited to all AVBC fees & charges, preparation and submission of its VAT returns, opting to tax, AVBCs Partial Exemption (PE) calculation, VAT compliance, VAT recovery and AVBC's VAT codes
The postholder will be expected to pass on their understanding of VAT matters specific to AVBC to the new member of staff by working alongside them during this learning process
The postholder will be expected to show the new member of staff how to deal with VAT queries from colleagues within AVBC and how and when to make best of the council's VAT advisers (PS Tax) helpline
The postholder will be expected to show the new member of staff how to deal with other VAT issues that may arise during the assignment, for example opting to tax considerations and Local Government Reorganisation implications
