This role supervises and mentors unionized trades teams, coordinates closely with Production and Trials stakeholders, and ensures all work meets schedule, quality, and safety requirements. The position plays a key role in troubleshooting complex systems, improving productivity, and delivering compliant, high-quality vessels for sea trials and acceptance. It is well suited for experienced marine professionals, including current or former RCN marine technicians, who excel in fast-paced operational environments.\nSupervise and lead multi-skilled crew of unionized trades team members to pre-commission/test system I/O, set-to-work systems, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment and systems onboard new construction and ship repair areas. \nVerify system handovers for completion and quality. \nPerform trials to demonstrate system operation to our customer and inspectors in harbor and at sea.\nEnsure work is progressing safely, efficiently and correctly in accordance with ship build schedule.\nCo-ordinate scheduled and unscheduled work activities within the Trials team and with Production team counterparts.\nRecommend measures to improve productivity and product quality.\nTrain crew members in job duties, safety procedures and company policies.\nPerformance Manage assigned crew members.\nComplete daily time entry for assigned crew members.\nPrepare production and other reports. \nEnsure compliance with all Company Environmental, Health and Safety policies.\nEnsure strict adherence to Company quality procedures and policies.\n Completion of relevant Red Seal Trades certificate, University, College, Technical or Vocational Training, Marine Engineering or RCN Marine Technician qualification.\nYears of Experience:5+ years experience in one of, or a combination of, the following:Commissioning naval or commercial ships in a new construction program, or comparable experience in naval ship modernization and overhaul.\nCommissioning high tech systems in process or power plants.\nSeagoing naval or commercial engineering experience\nProduction Supervisor, Production Work Lead, Chargehand or trades work experience in a Marine/Industrial/Shipbuilding environment.\n\nApplicants should have a proven record of managing work in a safe and efficient manner.\nExperience mentoring, training and/or coaching.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills\nProficient with Computers.
