This role works closely with Business Unit stakeholders to review requirements, validate designs, create work estimates, develop software, and verify product releases. The Software Developer II also works in close collaboration with the Software Development Team Lead to implement best practices across all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle.\nThe Impact You Will Have in This Role:You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with industry experts, gain hands‑on experience with JD Power's automotive data assets, deepen your understanding of the auto business domain, and strengthen your design and development skills as you grow in your role. \nWhat You’ll Be Doing in This Role:\nDesign and code software applications based on business and technical specifications.\n\nDevelop and execute unit, component, and integration tests to verify requirements are met.\n\nAdhere to established coding standards and test coverage targets to ensure product quality.\n\nPerform code reviews to ensure quality, proactively identify defects, and recommend improvements.\n\nContribute to technical and end-user documentation.\n\nInvestigate and resolve technical issues for assigned projects.\n\nQualifications of this Role: Required\nPost‑secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.\n\n2+ years of software development experience with languages such as Java or .NET.\n\nExperience with application servers, web servers (e.g., Apache HTTP Server, NGINX), and version control systems (GitLab).\n\nExperience with build and continuous integration tools (e.g., Maven, Jenkins, GitLab CICD).\n\nExperience with relational and non‑relational database design and development.\n\nAI-Assisted Development\nProficient with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) and able to judge when to accept, edit, or reject generated output \n\nSkilled at providing effective context — codebase conventions, requirements, constraints — to produce production-quality results \n\nExperience using AI to accelerate test authoring, documentation, and routine refactoring \n\nAware of AI tool limitations: hallucinated APIs, outdated patterns, security pitfalls in generated code, and the need for human verification before merge \n\nPreferred\nFamiliarity with secure coding practices and common vulnerability classes (OWASP Top 10) \n\nExperience building software in Agentic fashion \n\nPersonal Attributes\nExceptionally self‑motivated, self‑directed, and detail‑oriented.\n\nExcellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, comfortable collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders.\n\nThe Hiring Manager says:The Internal Services & Platform team is a highly strategic area for JD Power.
