This role works closely with Business Unit stakeholders as an individual contributor while ensuring the efficient allocation, utilization, and effectiveness of Engineering staff. The Software Development Team Lead also works in close collaboration with the Software Development Manager to define, implement, and continuously improve best practices across all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle. \nYou will directly influence delivery reliability, team productivity, and software quality by guiding day-to-day execution, removing blockers, and driving adherence to engineering standards and best practices. \nIn this role, you will:\nFoster and maintain a positive, accountable, and collaborative work \n\n environment to motivate Engineering staff \n\nOwn team delivery outcomes, ensuring commitments are met with \n\n expected quality, velocity, and reliability \n\nContribute to the definition, adoption, and enforcement of best practices \n\n for all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle \n\nIdentify, track, and report on key engineering performance indicators \n\n (quality, velocity, productivity, delivery reliability) \n\nLeading and support the team, hands on, in using and adopting AI tooling \n\n (coding assistants, agents, review and test automation) to improve quality, \n velocity, and delivery reliability ensuring humans are accountable for what \n ships\nCollaborate with Business Unit stakeholders to align priorities \n\n and allocate resources based on business objectives \n\nProvide day-to-day functional oversight and leadership for Engineering \n\n staff \nIdentify and remove obstacles that prevent the team from meeting delivery \n\n commitments \nProvide continuous performance feedback through regular one-on-one \n\n meetings \nConduct formal performance reviews for staff as per the schedule defined \n\n by Human Resources \nDevelop training plans to address business needs and support ongoing \n\n growth of staff \nActively participate in the recruitment process to grow the Engineering \n\n organization \nManage onboarding of new software developers and interns to accelerate \n\n contribution \nMaintain visibility into team health, skills, and knowledge depth, \n\n addressing gaps where needed \nDesign and develop software applications from business and technical \n\n specifications \nDevelop and execute unit, component, and integration level tests to verify \n\n requirements are met\nEnsure adherence to coding standards and test coverage targets \n\n to maintain product quality \nInvestigate and resolve technical issues and delivery risks for assigned \n\n projects \nCollaborate with architects and stakeholders on solution design and \n\n technical direction \nContribute to the creation of technical and end user product \n\n documentation Required Qualifications:\n5+ years of software development experience and Bachelor's degree in \n\n Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field is required.\n\nProven technical team leadership abilities including on and offshore \n\n multidisciplinary teams \nExperience working with a variety of software development languages \n\n including Java and Typescript \nExperience with service-oriented architecture and design principles \n\nExperience with relational and non-relational database design \n\nStrong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at \n\n all levels of an organization \nExceptionally self-motivated, accountable, and detail-oriented \n\nSuperior analytical and problem-solving skills \n\nCompensation and BenefitsThis position has a starting salary range of $110,000 - $130,000 CAD per year. The range represents what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for the role at the time of posting.
