Develops data and makes preliminary sketches, lay-outs and notes required to present design proposals. Researches basic design factors such as ease of manufacture and availability of materials and equipment. Works with other organizations impacted by design development.\nResponsible for the design, integration, and deployment of automation systems supporting high-level assembly and integration of advanced compute and AI-based server rack products at Jabil’s Florence, KY facility. This position requires application of industrial engineering, mechatronics, robotics automation principles to develop automated manufacturing solutions that improve throughput, yield, and process stability. The role involves end-to-end system integration of automated robotics, vision system implementation, controls configuration, and automation validation.\nMay perform work in a specific sub-specialty such as Design, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Technical Project Management, and/or Process Improvement. This description is designed to capture the general elements of Engineering work in a manufacturing setting.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nDesign and develops complex assembly processes, initiates process improvement initiatives for server rack assembly and integration, system level validation, and packaging as assigned.\nSupport collaborative integration initiatives between Jabil and third-party automation providers for advanced server rack assembly automation.\nParticipate in process improvement initiatives using Lean and data-driven methodologies to increase yield and throughput.\nIntegrate machine vision systems (2D/3D cameras, OCR, barcode inspection) for automated quality validation and closed-loop feedback.\nDevelops and implements changes to product design and/or the manufacturing process to achieve efficiency, quality, and/or cost improvements by participating in new product development programs.\nDevelops requirement specifications, system concepts, CAD generated layouts, detailed drawings, BOM’s. Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details of parts of devices, mechanisms and structures.\nGenerate system requirement specifications, automation layouts, electrical schematics, and functional documentation.\nProvides customer product design engineering for economic production; may participate in meetings with customers as needed.\nAssesses proper material, automation and equipment selection.\nWorks with manufacturing to troubleshoot problems, improve yield, retrofits, set-ups, methods development, and the development of process parameters.\nParticipates in product development meetings and may make recommendations to product design changes to enhance manufacturing and assembly.\nConduct proof of concept experiments and design other testing requirements as needed.\nResearch new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology.\nUnderstanding of Lean Six Sigma tools, projects and processes and ability to incorporate these into assigned engineering projects.\nMay assume lead role in small or sub-section of large project, as assigned.\nReviews completed projects for accuracy, clarity and completeness.\nEnsures projects are compliant with all local, regional, and national regulatory requirements, codes and controls.\nSupports all company safety and quality programs and initiatives.\nMay perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.\nEngineering Addendum\nAutomation:\nTechnical responsibility for design and development of automation requirement specification and systems concepts and installs automation and transfer automation programs to production in a smooth and timely manner.\nIndustrial Engineering / Process Improvement:\nApply Lean Six Sigma methodologies and industrial engineering principles for process improvement, yield optimization, and increase throughput of high-value deliverables.\nCAD/CAE:\nTechnical responsibility for design and production of 2D and 3D representations of automated assembly layouts, procedures, products, and process improvements.
