The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in embedded software/firmware development, Android HAL, and Android BSP, withstrongknowledge of Android camera, display, and media subsystems.\nThis role offers the opportunity to work with the latest Android versions (preferably Android 14 and beyond), contributing to the development and optimization of Android-based embedded platforms. You will work at the intersection of hardware and software, helping to integrate, customize, and enhance core Android platform components while solving complex system-level challenges.\nYou’llbe part of a cross-functional team developing andoptimizingAndroid-based platforms, collaborating closely with hardware and software engineers to deliver robust, scalable, and high-performance solutions.\nTechnical Requirements:\n8+ years of professional experience inembedded software/firmware development.\n\n2+ years of hands-on experience withAndroid BSP development, platform customization, and system integration.\n\nHands-on experience withAndroid AOSP development.\n\nStrong understanding of recent Android versions, features, APIs, and changes (preferably Android 14 or later).\n\nExperience working withAndroid HAL andAndroid subsystems, particularly Camera, Display, and Medi a.\n\nStrong understanding of Android platform architecture and interactions between BSP, HAL, Android subsystems, and hardware components.\n\nStrongproficiencyinC/C++ development.\n\nSolid experience inEmbedded Linux development, including power management, display drivers, and connectivity stacks such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.\n\nFamiliarity with Android development tools and workflows, includingADB,Fastboot, Repo, Git, Gerrit, and GitHub.\n\nStrong problem-solving skills and a proactive, independent working style.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nNice to Have:\nExperience withscripting languages like Bash or Python.\n\nDebugging and development experience within theAndroid Framework layer.\n\nFamiliarity with theNDK toolchain, building native libraries and components.\n\nLinuxUser Space development experience is a strong plus; LinuxKernel development experience is a bonus.\n\nBig plus is Treble experience\n\nResponsibilities:\nWork with Android source code and build system: synchronize repositories, manage branches and patches, integrate third-party components, and resolve build issues and conflicts.\n\nDevelop, customize, andmaintainAndroid BSP components, platform integrations, and system-level features for Android-based embedded devices.\n\nModify and improve Android platform components according to project requirements, including customization for specific hardware and product needs.\n\nDevelop, integrate, andmaintainAndroid HAL components and support Android subsystems, particularlycamera,display, and media.\n\nCollaborate with hardware teams to support platform bring-up, hardware integration, validation, and troubleshooting activities.\n\nCustomize andmaintainLinux kernel and embedded platform components: configure Device Tree, integrate andmodifydrivers, and support hardware-specific functionality.\n\nDebug and diagnose software and hardware issues across Android BSP, HAL, camera, display, media, and Embedded Linux layers using logcat,dmesg, ADB, and other debugging tools.\n\nAnalyze root causes, document solutions, and contribute to system stability, performance optimization, and overall platform reliability.\n\nBE AWARE OF FRAUD: When applying for a job at Jabil you will be contacted via correspondence through our official job portal with a jabil.com e-mail address; direct phone call from a member of the Jabil team; or direct e-mail with a jabil.com e-mail address.
