This role provides Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Excellence (DFX) support to ensure products are optimized for manufacturability, quality, cost, reliability, serviceability, and scalability.\nThe engineer leads manufacturing process development, tooling and fixture design, and production readiness activities while driving continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle. Responsibilities include ensuring product performance, reliability, maintainability, safety, ergonomics, schedule adherence, and quality objectives are achieved. The role collaborates closely with engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and external equipment suppliers to successfully transition new products from design into stable, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing processes.\nLocation: This role is Remote* OR Austin, TX\n*Requires up to 30% domestic and/or international travel (rare)\nWhat will you do?\nPlan, develop, sustain, and improve assembly processes for mechanical products, subassemblies, frames, structures, panels, enclosures, and mounting solutions. \nEvaluate product flow, material delivery, storage, line feed methods, work in process levels, buffer requirements and workstation or workcell layout. \nPerform process mapping, time studies, work measurement, capacity analysis, and line balancing to improve throughput, labor utilization, schedule adherence, and cost. \nDesign and improve ergonomic workstations, fixtures, tools, material-handling methods, and manufacturing layouts. \nUse CAD tools to review, develop, and update models, layouts, drawings, and technical data packages supporting manufacturability, assembly planning, fixtures, tooling, and production readiness. \nProvide design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly input for machined parts, sheet-metal components, welded structures, fasteners and mechanical assemblies. \nSupport the creation and maintenance of manufacturing documentation, work instructions, process flows, layouts, equipment requirements and product bills of material. \nEvaluate manufacturing feasibility, process risk, equipment needs, labor content, and cost for new or changing products. \nLead or support PFMEA, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, yield improvement, quality improvement, and cost-reduction activities. \nCoordinate manufacturing trials, process validation, equipment qualification, and production readiness activities for new or modified processes. \nWork with production personnel and equipment or component suppliers to resolve manufacturing, assembly, material, and process issues. \nUse production systems and metrics to monitor process performance, identify gaps, and implement sustainable improvements. \nPropose and drive cross-functional improvement projects within the assigned workcell or product area. \nProvide technical guidance and share industrial engineering practices with less experienced engineers and cross-functional team members. \nMay perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. \nHow will you get here?\nEducation:\nBachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering field; a master's degree is preferred. \n·\nExperience:\nTypically 5 to 8 years of relevant industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechanical integration, or production support experience. \nExperience supporting complex products, processes, workcells, or manufacturing environments. \nA suitable combination of education, experience, and training may be considered. \nKnowledge, Skills, Abilities:\nPractical understanding and hands on experience of mechanical manufacturing and assembly processes, including sheet-metal fabrication, welded structures, machined components, fastening methods, and product integration. \nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, bills of material, specifications, and manufacturing documentation. \nAbility to analyze manufacturing data, identify process constraints, and develop practical recommendations for quality, delivery, cost, and productivity improvement.\nExperience with PFMEA, design for assembly, fixtures and tools, quoting support, and manufacturing readiness activities. \nStrong communication, analytical, project coordination, and cross-functional problem-solving skills.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications and working experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or comparable engineering and layout tools; experience with Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project is preferred.\nExperience with ERP, MES, PLM, or related manufacturing systems is preferred. \nAbility to travel both domestically and internationally up to 30%\nThe pay range for this role is $132,400 - $238,400.
