In this role, you will support the firm’s compliance function by contributing to technology solutions that help meet regulatory obligations. Collaborating with senior engineers and the Legal & Compliance team, you will design, build, and ship one well-scoped project end to end: a working tool that automates a process the Compliance team currently handles manually.\nYou will write production-quality code, work with real data, and partner directly with compliance officers and engineers. You’ll create something the team actually uses.\nYour Project\nYour project will be chosen from our 2027 roadmap based on team priorities and your skills. Projects will fall into one of two areas:\nInternal monitoring. Build services that ingest trading or activity data, apply compliance rules, flag exceptions, and surface them to reviewers through a clean interface. Examples include checking that activity stays within defined restrictions, or reconciling records and timestamps across systems to catch discrepancies. \nTeam metrics and reporting. Build an automated pipeline that collects, calculates, and visualizes the metrics Compliance reports to management, replacing manual spreadsheets with a repeatable, auditable system. \nKey Responsibilities\nTranslate policies and compliance requirements into a technical design, working closely with senior developers and Compliance stakeholders. \nWrite clean, tested code in Python and SQL, plus front-end work as needed. \nBuild dashboards or web interfaces that give compliance users clear, actionable views of exceptions or metrics. \nValidate your system’s output against manual results to confirm accuracy and support auditability. \nPresent progress in weekly check-ins and demos. \nWhat You’ll Build and Learn\nData ingestion pipelines that pull from internal databases, files, and APIs \nRules or metrics engines with clear logic and automated tests \nA user-facing dashboard or web interface for non-technical users \nLogging and error handling suited to a system people depend on \nDocumentation that lets another engineer maintain your work \nYou’ll work within a real engineering workflow, including version control, code review, and testing before release. \nDeliverables\nRequirements and design document, reviewed with stakeholders \nWorking end-to-end prototype with data ingestion and core logic \nFeature-complete tool with a dashboard or interface for compliance users \nAutomated tests and a validation summary comparing results against the current manual process \nUser guide and technical handoff documentation \nFinal demo and presentation to Compliance and Technology leadership, with recommendations for next steps \nQualifications & Experience\nCurrently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with an expected graduation in 2028 (rising senior). \nProficient in Python or another general-purpose language (Java, C#, or similar). \nFamiliarity with SQL and relational databases. \nExperience with Git and a solid grasp of data structures and algorithms. \nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. \nCurious mindset with a willingness to learn quickly. \nPreferred\nExperience with React / TypeScript or another front-end framework, and REST APIs. \nFamiliarity with Snowflake, Postgres / MySQL, or AWS. \nExposure to Docker or CI/CD pipelines. \nPrior internship or substantial personal or academic projects. \nInterest in financial markets, trading systems, or regulatory technology. \nCompensation\nThe estimated base salary range for this position is $182,000 for Masters students and $234,000 for PhD students, which is specific to New York and may change in the future.\nWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer\nAs an employer, we believe every individual brings with them unique diversity of thought and perspectives to meaningfully enrich perspectives of Jain Global teams to drive competitive performance.
