This role is focused on backend and platform capabilities that improve how internal teams build, integrate, deploy, and operate software.\nThe ideal candidate is a strong software engineer with platform instincts: someone who can build reusable services, frameworks, and tooling that improve developer productivity, standardize common patterns, and increase the reliability of internal systems. This person should be comfortable working across multiple areas of the stack, from service frameworks and API enablement to observability, governance, and developer workflows. This is a high-ownership role within a global, fast-moving engineering environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign and build shared backend services, frameworks, and developer tooling that support internal application and service development.\n\nDevelop common platform capabilities such as service templates, authentication and authorization patterns, API standards, observability integrations, error handling, and shared runtime utilities.\n\nImprove the developer experience through better tooling, automation, documentation, onboarding patterns, and paved-road workflows for engineering teams.\n\nHelp define and evolve standards for service architecture, API design, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.\n\nBuild reusable libraries and platform components that reduce duplication and promote consistency across teams.\n\nPartner with application developers, infrastructure engineers, security teams, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical, scalable solutions.\n\nContribute to adjacent platform needs as priorities evolve, including internal tooling, service governance, and reliability-focused capabilities.\n\nSupport adoption of shared platform capabilities by reviewing designs, guiding implementation, and helping teams integrate with standard approaches.\n\nContribute to CI/CD, debugging, production support, and ongoing operational improvement of shared systems.\n\nExplore and integrate AI-assisted developer workflows where they can meaningfully improve engineering productivity and quality.\n\nQualifications\n6+ years of software engineering experience, with significant experience in backend systems, platform engineering, or internal developer tooling.\n\nStrong programming skills in Python, with the ability to design and build production-quality services and tooling.\n\nExperience building and maintaining backend services, APIs, and shared engineering components in complex environments.\n\nSolid understanding of service architecture, API design, authentication and authorization, logging, monitoring, and error handling.\n\nHands-on experience with backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Node.js, or similar technologies.\n\nFamiliarity with cloud-native development, including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.\n\nExperience designing systems for reliability, maintainability, and scale across multiple consuming teams.\n\nStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering teams with different needs and levels of maturity.\n\nPreferred Experience\nExperience building or supporting shared engineering platforms, internal developer tooling, service frameworks, or common backend infrastructure.\n\nFamiliarity with developer enablement patterns such as service templates, internal portals, reusable libraries, or governance workflows.\n\nExperience improving observability, production support, and operational standards across multiple services or teams.\n\nExposure to AI/LLM-enabled developer workflows, internal copilots, or automation tooling.\n\nExperience in financial systems, regulated environments, or other high-reliability domains is a plus.\n\nCompensation\nJain Global offers a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary bonus, and comprehensive benefits. The estimated base salary range for this position is £170,000- £190,000, which is specific to London and may change in the future.
