I lead the foundational infrastructure that powers data across Jane. We ship pipelines, data availability, analytics and reporting infrastructure - the building blocks other teams depend on to do their work. I've been at Jane for six years and one month, it has been exciting watching Jane grow from a start up to what it is now, and for most of that time our work was about getting foundational systems right. Now we're at an inflection point where we're thinking bigger about data strategy, governance at scale, and how to enable the whole company through better access and insights. This role is about unblocking delivery on two major projects and helping us think more strategically about what we're building. You'll own end-to-end data infrastructure work, partner closely with teams consuming our output (analytics, product, platform), and shape how Jane makes decisions with data as we grow.\nWhat Impact We're Looking For You To Make\nDeploy robust, production-grade data infrastructure that scales with Jane's growth, balancing innovation with operational stability and clear trade-offs between speed and reliability.\n\nContribute to the architecture, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of a secure, centralized data lake.\n\nDesign and build high-performance streaming applications.\n\nHelp design and implement best-in-class security controls for Jane's data lake.\n\nOwn the full lifecycle of infrastructure projects from design through production, including documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge transfer to other engineers and teams.\n\nPartner cross-functionally to understand what the analytics and product teams need, translate those needs into technical requirements, and iterate based on real-world usage.\n\nActively use AI as a tool to accelerate mundane infrastructure work - documentation, research, boilerplate, knowledge synthesis - freeing you to focus on the hard technical thinking.\n\nWhat Experience We Need\n5+ years working with production data infrastructure, including hands-on experience deploying and maintaining systems in a SaaS or data-heavy environment.\n\nStrong SQL and data warehouse fundamentals including ETL/ELT patterns, schema design, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting.\n\nHands-on experience with AWS services and infrastructure-as-code tools, including Amazon MSK, AWS Glue, and Terraform.\n\nExperience working with modern data lake and data warehouse technologies, particularly Apache Iceberg and Snowflake.\n\nExperience implementing database replication and change data capture pipelines using technologies such as Kafka, Debezium, Flink, or Spark.\n\nTrack record of owning infrastructure end-to-end - you've designed systems, deployed them to production, operated them, and iterated based on feedback from teams using them.\n\nComfort communicating technical decisions to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders, translating complexity into clarity.\n\nNice to have: Experience working with Ruby on Rails monolithic applications\n\nIf you don't meet every single qualification but are excited about this role, we'd still love to hear from you.\nMore About Jane\nJane is a founder-led, high-growth SaaS company with a remote-first team working across Canada, the US, and the UK, united by our mission to help the helpers.\nWe build the products and tools that thousands of clinics rely on every day to run their businesses, care for their patients, and grow their communities. This role has an annual salary range of CAD $121,600 to CAD $190,000. While that is a large range, it is intentional. It reflects the full growth journey someone might take in the role, from developing skills early on to becoming highly proficient and ultimately achieving excellence.\nMost new hires join at the accomplished stage, which for this role represents an annual salary of CAD $144,400. A starting salary below this typically indicates a candidate with strong potential who is still developing key skills. Salaries above this usually apply to existing team members who have made a significant impact and bring deep Jane-specific knowledge.\nWe believe in paying for growth. You'll have regular career development conversations with your manager, and your compensation will grow as you gain experience and contribute meaningfully to our mission.\nThis role also includes equity through our JSOP (Jane Stock Option Plan).
