The Gateway Manager is responsible to ensure that these policies are adhered to at all times.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nLead and manage all Air Gateway import and export operations in accordance with JAS policies, procedures, and established best practices.\nEnsure the highest levels of service quality and operational performance are delivered to internal branch customers, overseas partners, and external stakeholders.\nDevelop and execute operational strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, and cost management within the gateway operation.\nOversee scheduled consolidation services and ensure timely, accurate movement of freight to domestic and international destinations.\nCoordinate export consolidations and provide operational support and communication to U.S. stations and global network partners.\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with airlines, carriers, and service providers to support capacity requirements and service objectives.\nNegotiate pricing, service agreements, and operational parameters with carriers to support gateway and organizational goals.\nMonitor carrier performance and ensure service failures are promptly addressed, communicated, and documented.\nImplement, maintain, and improve operational procedures, communication standards, and customer service processes.\nManage departmental budgets and support financial objectives through cost control and operational optimization.\nPartner with Operations, Finance, Human Resources, and Compliance teams to effectively resolve operational, personnel, and administrative matters.\nEnsure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, security protocols, and work instructions.\nAnalyze operational metrics and develop action plans to drive continuous improvement and performance excellence.\nPerform additional duties and special projects as assigned.\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nLead, coach, and develop gateway employees through performance management, mentoring, training, and career development initiatives.\nFoster a collaborative, customer-focused, and results-driven culture while promoting teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.\nManage all aspects of employee lifecycle activities, including recruiting, onboarding, performance evaluations, employee relations, corrective actions, and succession planning in partnership with Human Resources.\nQualifications\nStrong knowledge of air freight forwarding and gateway operations.\nProven leadership and team development skills.\nAbility to drive operational efficiency and process improvement.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.\nEffective communication and relationship-building skills.\nExperience managing carrier performance and service execution.\nKnowledge of budgeting, cost control, and financial management.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and transportation systems.\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, or related field preferred.\nEquivalent combination of education and industry experience will be considered.\n5-7 years of freight forwarding, transportation, or logistics experience.\n4+ years of Gateway, HUB, or air freight consolidation operations experience.\n4+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.\nKnowledge of domestic and international transportation networks, routing, and cargo movement.\nExperience negotiating carrier agreements and managing airline relationships.\nExperience managing KPIs and driving operational performance.\nENVIRONMENT:\n100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions.
