Position requires an energetic, customer service driven candidate with continuous emphasis on bottom line results. Maintain the business flow of the Export department. Ensure all levels of compliance are met on the export process. Supervise the staff to make sure they are using all the tools available to achieve financial goals of the department. Oversee the usage of vendors.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nManage and further develop efficient and effective flow of work to attain optimum efficiency and productivity of department.\nIdentify the existence and cause of problems and solutions to correct them.\nUtilize reports to quantify and prioritize workload.\nManage communication with export related authorities, customers and suppliers in all relevant countries as necessary to ensure efficient, positive and lawful relations, support and activities.\nWork with other departments in order to establish and maintain effective and relevant export activities and support in relation to the organizations operating functions.\nInitiates, promotes, supports and implements change in order to increase organizational effectiveness.\nMake sound decisions based on analysis, experience and good judgment.\nEnsure staff has the training and resources necessary to perform their jobs.\nNegotiate with local carriers on spot pricing; issue rate quotes.\nResponsible for TSA compliance and maintenance for the branch.\nProvides quotes for internal and external clients.\nTakes part in outside sales activities with sales or management staff.\nMaintains current records on all truckers locally ; i.e. insurance certs, current tariff.\nCoordinate work activities between office staff and 3rd party warehouse.\nDelivery documents to both 3rd party warehouse and US Customs for Export department.\nMeet with SSL, ocean carriers, warehouse agents, and Truckers to review service needs.\nHandle all shipments with compliance needs.\nMaintain local pricing recorders from all carriers.\nAudit Export files for compliance and Business process.\nAudit Export files for profitability.\nHandle processing of all dangerous goods shipment for Air Export.\nTake department concerns to upper levels of management as needed.\nKeep track of service faults by 3rd party warehouse.\nOther duties as requested\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nThe incumbent will directly and/or indirectly supervise employees\nConduct performance evaluations for export department staff.\nRecommend hiring, firing and promotions.\nIdentify and resolve personnel issues.\nManage staff schedules.\nCreate an environment that encourages others to develop professionally.\nWill supervise directly or indirectly employees.\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nExcellent organizational and time management skills\n\nExcellent written and verbal skills\nStrong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite\nDetail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines\nSelf-motivated, able to work in a team and independently\nStrong knowledge of regulatory compliance with export rules and regulations\nAble to perform the essential duties of this position without posing a “direct threat” to the health or safety of self or others\nAble to interact positively and effectively with co-workers, subordinates and supervisors\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:\nHigh school diploma or GED. College Diploma, a plus.\nMinimum 7 years relevant Export (Air or Ocean) and freight forwarding experience.\nMinimum 3 years supervisory experience.\nKnowledge of procedures for international and domestic freight, trucking and warehouse services.\nTSA compliant.\nDangerous Goods awareness.\nENVIRONMENT:\n100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions.\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and finger to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear.
