To provide customer service to exporting customers: bookings, rates, document production, accounting, agent interaction, and problem solving.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nPrepare/coordinate the necessary documentation for the efficient, cost-effective and lawful execution of all ocean export activities.\nCoordinate cargo pick up/transfer. Monitor status.\nCommunicate with export related authorities, and customers and suppliers, in all relevant territories and countries, as necessary to ensure efficient, positive and lawful relations, support and activities.\nManage/update carrier/vendor rates. Obtain spot rates when necessary.\nCommunicate/correspond with overseas agents and clients in a timely manner. To include pre alert, rate requests, shipment status.\nTrack shipments and update customers/agents of status.\nCreate and maintain customer files.\nResponsible for customer invoicing and payables approval.\nAudit files to ensure accuracy and completion.\nInteract with coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.\nAssist other departments as needed, or when requested by the department or branch manager.\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: \nThe incumbent will not directly and/or indirectly supervise employees.\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nMinimum 2 years’ experience handling ocean export shipments.\nExperience working in the freight forwarding industry is preferred.\nPrevious knowledge of Cargo Wise (C1) is preferred.\nAbility to think pro-actively and address work challenges with diplomacy, using effective problem resolution skills.\nAble to perform the essential duties of this position without posing a “direct threat” to the health or safety of self or others.\nAble to interact positively and effectively with co-workers, subordinates and supervisors.\nEDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE:\nHigh School Diploma or GED is preferred.\nExperience in the freight forwarding industry is a plus.\nAbility to work in a fluid work environment and be able to effectively deal with unexpected situations.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nGeographical knowledge is preferred.\nADDITIONAL:\nThe responsibilities associated with this job will change from time to time in accordance with the Company’s business needs.
