We are looking for a Controls Software Engineer with a strong interest in industrial cybersecurity and compliance to support our Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) initiatives while contributing to the development of our automation platform based on Allen-Bradley technology. This role combines hands-on controls engineering with research, analysis, and implementation of cybersecurity requirements across our equipment portfolio.\n.\nAbout the Role\nAs our new Controls Software Engineer - Cybersecurity & CRA Compliance, you will work at the intersection of industrial automation, software engineering, and cybersecurity compliance. You will support the assessment and implementation of Cyber Resilience Act requirements across JBT Marel equipment while contributing to the development and maintenance of PLC and HMI software solutions.\nYou will collaborate closely with Controls Engineers, Product Development, Cybersecurity, Quality, Compliance, and external technology partners to ensure our solutions meet both customer expectations and emerging regulatory requirements.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys both technical problem-solving and investigative work, translating regulations into practical engineering standards and solutions.\nWhat You’ll Do\nYour responsibilities will include:\nSupport the investigation and interpretation of Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) requirements applicable to JBT Marel equipment.\nAssess and document technical, software, process, and lifecycle requirements needed to achieve CRA compliance.\nPerform gap analyses between existing machine designs, software architectures, and CRA requirements.\nDevelop implementation guidelines, standards, and engineering best practices related to cybersecurity and compliance.\nSupport the definition of cybersecurity requirements for hardware, software, industrial networks, remote access, and maintenance activities.\nParticipate in risk assessments and contribute to compliance documentation and technical evidence packages.\nEngage with technology vendors and suppliers to evaluate cybersecurity capabilities, compliance readiness, and supporting documentation.\nCollaborate with engineering, automation, quality, cybersecurity, and regulatory teams across the organization.\nAnalyze requirements and translate them into practical software and engineering solutions.\nDevelop, maintain, and improve PLC and HMI software for Allen-Bradley-based equipment.\nMaintain technical expertise within industrial automation, cybersecurity, and regulatory developments.\nSupport customer projects, product development activities, and internal continuous improvement initiatives.\nWhat You Bring\nWe encourage each of our 12,500+ employees to bring their unique self to work and aim to make everyone feel recognized, valued and free to explore their potential. You will recognize yourself in the following:\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.\nExperience with PLC programming and industrial control systems.\nExperience with Allen-Bradley PLC platforms and Studio 5000.\nKnowledge of industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP and OPC-UA.\nAbility to analyze technical requirements and translate them into engineering specifications.\nStrong analytical and documentation skills.\nInterest in industrial cybersecurity, compliance, standards, and risk management.\nAbility to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nStrong communication skills and a structured way of working.\nFluency in English, both written and spoken\nNice to Have\nExperience with industrial cybersecurity standards such as IEC 62443.\nKnowledge of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), NIS2, or related cybersecurity regulations.\nExperience conducting cybersecurity assessments, risk analyses, or compliance activities.\nExperience with FactoryTalk ME/SE or Optix.\nFamiliarity with machine lifecycle management and software maintenance processes.\nExperience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams in a global environment.\nKnowledge of food processing equipment or industrial machinery.\nExperience with cybersecurity-related supplier or vendor assessments\nWhy Join Us?\nThere’s nothing like the feeling you get when you do something worthwhile for a living.
