The role plays a critical part in supporting business operations, trade compliance, and decision-making by managing high-quality master data related to products, customers, suppliers, pricing, and logistics. Acting as a key interface between suppliers, internal stakeholders, and global teams, the Master Data Specialist ensures adherence to data governance standards, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement objectives.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Master Data Governance & Data Quality\nOwn and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of product, customer, supplier, pricing, and logistics master data in ERP systems.\nExecute master data creation, maintenance, cleansing, and mass updates in line with defined governance frameworks, SOPs, and approval workflows.\nValidate data received from suppliers and internal functions to ensure correctness, consistency, and compliance before system updates.\nSupport regular data audits to identify discrepancies, gaps, and risks, and drive corrective actions.\n2. Product & Item Master Data Management\nMaintain detailed product and item master attributes such as material classification, item type (purchased, manufactured, warehouse, spare parts), weights, and pricing.\nEnsure technical product properties are correctly understood, captured, and reflected in ERP.\nSupport new article introduction and lifecycle changes by coordinating data collection from relevant stakeholders.\n3. Trade Compliance & Customs Data\nEnsure correct maintenance of HS codes, country of origin (COO), and other customs-related data in compliance with applicable regulations.\nSupport compliance with Swedish Customs, US Customs and Border Protection, and other international trade regulations as applicable.\nContribute to the transition from top-level to item-level HS codes by supporting process design, documentation, and implementation.\nEnsure ERP master data enables compliant customs declarations and logistics flows.\n4. Regulatory Documentation & Audit Readiness\nCoordinate the collection, validation, and maintenance of supplier compliance documentation, including trade-related regulatory requirements.\nMaintain accurate, complete, and auditable records to support internal reviews, audits, and customs inquiries.\nEnsure master data and documentation are readily available and aligned with regulatory and business needs.\n5. Supplier & Stakeholder Collaboration\nAct as a key point of contact for suppliers regarding master data and compliance requirements.\nLiaise with sourcing, purchasing, logistics, supply chain, finance, and compliance teams to resolve master data issues.\nSupport suppliers through structured communication, guidance, and training to improve data quality and response times.\nCollaborate with global and local teams to ensure alignment with standards, regulations, and business processes.\n6. Process Improvement & Continuous Development\nIdentify weaknesses, inefficiencies, and risks in master data and compliance processes.\nProactively propose and drive improvements related to accuracy, standardization, efficiency, and compliance.\nReview, update, and develop SOPs, work instructions, and training materials.\nParticipate in master data-related projects, system enhancements, and process changes.\n7. Data Analysis & Reporting\nUse advanced Excel capabilities (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, Power Query, and data validation) to analyze large data sets.\nDevelop reports and dashboards using tools such as Power BI to monitor data quality, completeness, compliance coverage, and supplier performance.\nProvide data-driven insights and recommendations to management and stakeholders.\nQualifications & Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, International Trade, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.\nMinimum 3 years of experience in Master Data Management, ERP administration, Supply Chain, Trade Compliance, or a related role.\nHands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Infor LN, or similar).\nExperience working in regulated and international environments is highly desirable.\nTechnical Skills\nStrong understanding of ERP master data structures and governance principles.\nSolid knowledge of customs and trade compliance concepts, including HS codes and country of origin.\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI and data analytics is a strong advantage.\nFamiliarity with PLM systems (e.g., Windchill or equivalent) is meritorious.\nAbility to work with databases, large data sets, and system integrations.\nLanguage Requirements\nFluency in Swedish.\nFluency in English (corporate language), both written and spoken.\nPersonal Attributes\nHigh attention to detail with strong ownership and accountability mindset.\nAnalytical, structured, and fact-based in decision-making.\nAble to work independently with perseverance on complex, detail-intensive tasks.\nConfident communicator who can collaborate cross-functionally and engage with suppliers.\nAdaptable, proactive, and able to balance short-term issues with long-term improvements.\nCurious and motivated to continuously expand expertise in data management and trade compliance.\nWorking Conditions\nInteraction with global stakeholders across different time zones; occasional out-of-hours work may be required.\nRole offers broad business exposure and a flexible, central position within the organization.\nAbout JBT Marel\nAt JBT Marel, what we do matters.
