We offer high-quality programming for all ages, including fitness, wellness, aquatics, childcare, summer camps, and much more. We are seeking an Aquatics Instructor to join our team. The Aquatics Instructor is responsible for providing quality instruction for all levels of American Red Cross swim lessons to participants of all ages and abilities.\nRole and Responsibilities\nEffectively teach all levels of swim instruction under American Red Cross standards, possessing full knowledge of the skills at each level.\nEffectively communicate with parents about the appropriate class enrollment level for all children.\nMaintain familiarity with the registration process and current class schedules.\nProvide ongoing, effective communication regarding all classes and programming with the reception desk.\nPrepare award certificates, patches, and cards upon course completion.\nEnsure the safety of all swimmers by implementing preventative measures and minimizing hazardous situations.\nEnforce all pool rules and regulations in a polite and courteous manner.\nProvide a quick response to emergency situations in the water/deck area.\nBe knowledgeable about all aquatic information and programming.\nDisplay a professional appearance with appropriate dress/uniform.\nBe timely and punctual when reporting to work.\nEnsure the aquatic area is safe, clean, and orderly.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nQualifications and Education Requirements\nHigh school education preferred.\nCommunity C.P.R. certification.\nStandard First Aid certification.\nExperience teaching all ages and all-American Red Cross levels.\nEffective leadership skills and a strong work ethic.\nPositive and enthusiastic attitude towards the job and facility.\nAbility to troubleshoot and anticipate problems.\nConsistently exhibit team spirit, promoting a productive environment.\nMaintain a professional and confident character, with a tactful ability to communicate with participants.\nDemonstrate the ability to cooperate and work with others.\nDemonstrate consistent integrity, dependability, and responsibility, and be able to meet deadlines.\nPossess effective verbal/written communication and expression.\nAdaptable and flexible under stressful and/or unusual situations.\nExcellent customer service skills.\nEnergetic, enthusiastic, and motivational.\nProfessional manner, discretion, and appearance.\nAwareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injury.\nWork Hours: varied to include nights, weekends, and holidays. \nProficient in appropriate computer skills and office equipment.\nAble to show initiative and make decisions.\nPhysical/Mental Requirements (ADA Compliance)\nAbility to stand for long periods.\nThis position requires the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, walk, and talk.\nThe employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.\nAbility to lift 50 lbs.\nBenefits Overview\nThis part-time position is not benefits-eligible.\nPaid Time Off is a day-one benefit accrued based on years of service and hours worked in compliance with the Colorado Health Families & Workplaces Act.\nPart-time employees of the JCC who regularly work 20+ hours per week receive a complimentary individual membership to the JCC’s Fitness and Aquatics Center and a range of staff discounts, including year-round access to the JCC’s fitness center and heated pool.\nPart-time employees of the JCC who regularly work 20+ hours per week are also eligible for a wide range of discounts, including up to 20% off for the JCC’s Preschool and Summer Camp childcare programs, discounted tickets to Mizel Arts and Culture events, discounted program and class costs, and more!\nAll employees of the JCC are eligible to join the “JCCs of North America” (JCCA) community, which includes access to the JCCA’s resource center, ongoing professional development and networking opportunities, as well as educational stipends for qualifying employees.\nAdditional Notes\nThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
