Department programs include Festivals (JAAMM, DJFF, and ReelAbilities), Denver Children’s Theatre, and Wolf Theatre Academy. These efforts include supporting technical and event operations for JCC, MACC, and rental users.\nApproximately 75% of scheduled shifts over the course of a year will be during weekend, evening, and holiday hours.Various programs and productions may also require regular workday hours, depending on program needs.\nTheatre Technician Responsibilities\nProviding a world class experience for all JCC and MACC users and patrons\n\nSupporting production and event operations for JCC, The Mizel Arts and Culture Center, and rental events\n\nSupporting Technical Director in maintaining equipment functionality\n\nSupporting Technical Director in maintaining theater facilities\n\nActing as needed in typical theatrical crew positions for internal and external events such as stage manager, light-board operator, sound-board operator, media operator, carpenter, and/or camera operator\n\nQualifications\n Basic Qualifications\nMinimum of two years of experience working in a professional theater environment;\n\nStrong understanding of theatre facilities and standard theatrical equipment;\n\nStrong communication, organization, and technical skills;\n\nStrong client management skills with a cordial and professional demeanor;\n\nExperience with theatrical lighting, audio, video, and scenic construction;\n\nBasic competency with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook);\n\nGreat multitasker, attention to detail, hard-working and self-motivated; and\n\nAvailability to work nights and weekends.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nThese additional qualifications are preferred and will make candidates more competitive, but these are not required for the effective execution of the job responsibilities.\nBachelor’s Degree or greater in Technical Theater;\n\nComfortable with an ETC Ion light board, Behringer X32 digital sound board and basic knowledge of QLab software or comparable equipment and systems;\n\nExperience troubleshooting lighting, audio and video equipment;\n\nExperience providing event hospitality support;\n\nComfortable with hand and power tools;\n\nComfortable working with artists, children and families;\n\nComfort with large groups/audience interactions;\n\nKnowledge of safety and security rules and regulations; and\n\nLighting, sound, video or scenic design experience.\n\n Physical Demands and Working Environment:\nThe position requires the candidate to remain in a sitting position for prolonged hours in an office environment. While performing duties, the candidate is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Candidate must occasionally lift and or/move up to fifty (50) pounds. Working conditions may include being in an open (shared) cubicle or workspace.
