We believe in the developmental stages and introduce new concepts according to each child’s ability and age. The curriculum is Project Approach, which is an in-depth investigation on a topic that is both concrete and close to children’s personal experiences, so that it is rich in possibilities for varied learning activities and for sustaining long-term interest in children. The staff strives to foster independence by giving children opportunities to make decisions on their own, as well as exposing them to a diverse array of experiences to establish the foundation for future learning. For more info about Chibi Chan Preschool, Chibi Chan Too, and JCYC go to www.jcyc.org.\nPOSITION SUMMARY\nThe Teacher reports directly to the Preschool Director and/or Associate Director and will be responsible for the nurturing care and supervision of children ages 2 - 5 years old. Major responsibilities include: 1) planning and executing the educational program in accordance with the purpose and goals of Chibi Chan Preschool 2) general overall supervision and classroom management in the classroom and 3) the overall supervision of classroom staff.\nJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:\nResponsibilities include but are not limited to:\nEarly Childhood Development\nFacilitate and supervise all daily activities to ensure a nurturing, friendly, supportive learning environment;\n\nEnsure and monitor daily curriculum planning and prepare age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, hands-on, and fun activities through a variety of interests including art, music, literature and science;\n\nReview, assist, and monitor on-going assessments which includes updating children portfolios, conducting the Desired Results Assessment or the Developmental Assessment and writing Child Update Form on children (2 per month/each child);\n\nPlan and modify program to meet the needs of children with special needs, different learning styles, social, emotional and physical needs as well as talents and interests;\n\nImplement Desired Results Developmental Profile on all Preschool For All (PFA) children;\n\nInteract and observe children through play, treat children with dignity and respect, encourage involvement with other children;\n\nEnsure program plans are in accordance with the policies and philosophy of NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct, Chibi Chan Preschool and JCYC;\n\nMaintain communications with parents/caregivers concerning child’s development including conducting two parents/caregiver/teacher conferences and/or additional conferences if needed or requested by parents/caregiver;\n\nWork with parents/caregivers to promote understanding of their child’s growth and development; encourage parents/caregiver participation in school programs;\n\nCollaborate and participate in all school fundraisers and JCYC agency events;\n\nParticipate in advocacy initiatives prioritized by JCYC.\n\nSKILLS AND EXPERIENCE\nMinimum of 12 ECE units\n\nMinimum 2 years experience providing care in Early Childhood Development\n\nAssociate Teacher Permit or higher\n\nBackground and/or knowledge of the conduction Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) preferred\n\nSome knowledge of Teaching Pyramid, CLASS, ECERS/ITERS, and Project Approach highly desired\n\nAbility to work with diverse communities and in a team environment\n\nDisplay professionalism and possess strong communication, organizational and follow-through skills\n\nCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS\nCompensation for this position is $72,000 - $75,000/YR, based on experience.
