Join Jeppesen ForeFlight as a Senior Performance Engineer and optimize the core C++ engine behind world-class aviation software. Remote opportunities available.
Jeppesen ForeFlight is looking for a Senior Performance Engineer to work on the core engine behind ForeFlight's aviation software.
ForeFlight develops complex software used by pilots around the world, where performance, reliability and responsiveness are essential. We are looking for an experienced engineer who enjoys working deep within complex C++ systems, identifying bottlenecks and improving performance at engine level.
The role
You will work hands-on with ForeFlight's core engine, analysing and improving performance across a large and complex codebase. The work involves understanding how different parts of the engine interact and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, responsiveness and resource utilisation.
Your background could come from AAA games, game engines, rendering, simulation or another environment where you have worked extensively with performance-critical C++ systems.
Your responsibilities
Profile, analyse and optimise performance within ForeFlight's core C++ engine.
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across areas such as CPU/GPU utilisation, memory and multithreading.
Work with performance-critical engine components, including rendering and graphics infrastructure.
Collaborate with other engineers to improve engine architecture, profiling and performance across the product.
Your background
You are an experienced C++ engineer with a strong understanding of what happens beneath the application layer. You are comfortable navigating large codebases, investigating complex performance problems and working close to the underlying system.
We expect you to have:
Strong professional experience with C++ and core engine or low-level systems development.
Hands-on experience with profiling, debugging and performance optimisation of complex real-time systems.
A strong understanding of areas such as multithreading, memory management, CPU/GPU performance and engine architecture.
Experience from game engines, AAA game development, rendering, simulation or similar performance-critical environments.
Experience with graphics APIs such as Metal, Vulkan, DirectX or OpenGL is valuable, but the role is broader than rendering alone.
